Thanks Paul, James, John.
John- it was nearly all the same colour and painted in acrylics so it wasn't that onerous a task, there weren't that many decals either so I can't really say that painting this model was that much of an achievement. I'm working on the display unit for this now which will be a museum shop unit with steps up to roof access to the Shackleton display, this will be made from a cut down Airfix box, very simple.

This is the card platform taking shape placed alongside the model.
A view of the platform from the underside showing the lolly stick bracing.
Just under six and a half hours to go and time is catching up with me, the model is almost complete and will not take any real effort to finish but finishing the platform will be the trial.

Re: Lancfan's Phase Three Shackleton
Having built the platform up I have decided that as it now stands it just looks cheap and nasty, letting the aeroplane look bad, to do this building properly will take more time and different materials to convincingly portray this feature so I will abandon the museum elements and concentrate on the aeroplane.
The finished aircraft, the forward fuselage and inner wings of a fictitious preserved Shackleton MR. 3 Phase Three, set up for use as a balcony based walk through display.

That is a terrific build. Very very nice.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
