Brickie's MiG-15
Pre-start box and sprue pics...
Looks easy!
Oh, I see. There's more under the tray.
And some instructions
Decals. The upper of the two fighters is actually a MiG-15 UTI two-seater, the one below a MiG-17. However, I'll use the upper one for a regular MiG-15 'cos I don't care too much if I have the right serials...

Re: Brickie's MiG-15
And we're off.
Cockpit tub gets a coat of XF-23, with black on the IP and seat.
Note the lack of any moulded details on the IP. No decal either.
The box art depicts it flying with a pilot, but there's no pilot in the box. The last one of these I made also required a bit of surgery to make it work "wheels-up", as the whole thing is designed to be wheels down. I'd prefer to do it flying, either on a stand or for Emily's ceiling but we'll see...
Realise I have no bone-dome pilots in the spares box, only WW2 era chaps. I don't think the Albanian AF in the early 90s was that impoverished, so I'll amend this chap if I can manage wheels-up.

Re: Brickie's MiG-15
I do love a Mig-15 dont modify the pilot, Soviet Mig-15 drivers wore leather helmets http://www.koreanwaronline.com/arms/RussianPilots.htm; if you look at the pic about half way down the link it clearly shows Soviet pilots wearing leather helmets. Hope this helps

Re: Brickie's MiG-15
Well, a quick fiddle with the u/c doors suggests they should go in without too much ado, so I should be able to go wheels-up.
Good job too, as there's not a lot of room for noseweight.

Re: Brickie's MiG-15
Another hour, the fuselage is zipped up and I'll break for lunch while it's drying.
I've managed to get some noseweight in as it turned out the u/c doors aren't the same shape as the holes. So the pilot goes back in the box.

Nice work. Pretty good looking kit.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Kibbles and bits attached and all drying, awaiting some decals and weathering.
