Just a quick question: which brand of matt varnish are you using? From the pictures, it looks like it's doing a good job..

It's Vallejo Matt. It does a good job and sprays well with a little thinning. I have lots of problems spraying their gloss varnish though.

Nicely done. I find that those yellow l/e stripes on Spits and the like are better painted, decals never seem to work for me!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Yes I agree. I wish I'd done the sky fuselage bands in paint now too! And invasion stripes have never looked any good on my models when done with decals

A big improvement on the plastic ones.

Tidied up the undersides tonight. Wheels repainted, nav lights painted, undersides of cannons painted medium sea grey.

Image

The other plane still needs the wheels fitting!

Wheels fitted, one spinner repainted. Just the aerials and a few paint touch ups now.

Image

I might paint the stands black too!

The aerials were added this evening using EZ-line.

Image

It didn't take long, as it's much more straightforward than biplane rigging!

Image

One or two minor paint jobs now, and they are finished. They'll do as they are, but there are a couple of things I'd like to repaint, if I get the chance.

Cheers

These two Spits look great Andrew and those replacement cannon barrels were certainly a worthwhile investment.

Yes, sometimes a few exterior details are a big improvement. I have an Airfix F22 Spitfire, and got resin cannon and exhausts for it. The kit ones will go on a Pegasus F.22 :omg
