Here's the victim:
The image has lost the top it seems. This is the old Revell kit.

Nice, this will be fun to watch!
Biggles, why am I not surprised?

Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

This will be good. I remember that kit from my (ahem) yoot.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
That should be eminently blitzable VV and I will be interested to see it in the Biggles scheme. The only Biggles book I have read, many moons ago now, is Biggles of 266 (hopefully I've got the title right!), which I remember enjoying very much.

Blimey, that's a blast from the past. I remember building one back in 1970-something. Look forward to seeing it.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
Looks like a good subject for blitzing. I'll have to get one the next time I see it.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
I remember now, after reading this gentleman's thread, that I had conflicting purposes for this kit. I want to start a Chinese Nationalist collection and this would be part of it. Given that I'm not completely married to the idea of the Biggles build (since the pilot is only a secondary character) I may change and give this the Chinese treatment. I'll think on it a few days.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
As it will be a Saturday night build I should think a Chinese is in order.

I guess you too are having some trouble picking a blitz date?
Me too.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
This month has somehow become Armageddon for me in terms of work, church and family commitments so I'm now seriously wondering whether I can fit in a blitz at all. I may even struggle to complete my yellow wings GB project, so it's unfortunately looking like I may have to axe this blitz. Not Happy, Jan....

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
It's sad to see it go. Hopefully some other space will appear this month.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
That is OK. But stay loose. There is still loads of time. Keep those priorities straight.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata
OK, so at 3:30pm I was able to get a start on this.
It's now 6:30 and I have scratchbuilt a cockpit floor, IP and control stick and put all the main assemblies together. Now it's ready for filling followed by primer.
My wireless has crashed so I can't use the iPad to add photos and update posts. The camera died after the first photo so I'm now left wondering how I will take pictures to post them from the laptop
Yay technology.....
The aircraft will be the first of my 1930s Chinese Nationalist Airforce collection. This is the scheme:

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata **STARTED 3:30pm AEST 24/2**
Sorry about the photo above being on its side. Absolutely nothing I do seems to be able to induce photobucket to rotate it to the correct orientation.
Anyway, I managed to nurse the camera to allow one shot:
I had to fill a very large join gap in the wing with plastic card. Apart from that, the fit is fairly decent.

Re: VV Blitzes a Rata **STARTED 3:30pm AEST 24/2**
Reduced to using the phone camera now. Webcam next?....
Primed in white and tape applied to mask out lettering and wing insignia base. I'll also be using tape for the tail striping as I can't be bothered trying to design a decal.
This primer (cheap automotive primer) has a worrying tendency to scrape or pull away. I sprayed some matt coat over it in the hope of preventing the masks from pulling it off.
