Re: Tim's little black numbers **Started**
I've decided to build one with the weapons bay open and one closed so the white bits have had a coat of matt white. They don't look too bad but will need another coat or two.
After some cleaning up and sanding in order to make two of them lean the other way the fins have been added.
They look like baby SR-71s to me.
Ian, I never thought about asking if anyone had spare decals. I may use those from my 1/144 F-15E.

And he's off. Good start.
Shame about the obstacles, but it looks to me like you won that battle. And what would a blitz be without troubles, huh?
Keep up the good work.

Excellent progress Tim. Press on.

Maybe closing the weapons bay wasn't such a good idea after all as the doors are too small to cover the gap. Still, nothing a piece of plastic card and filler can't deal with.
Meanwhile, having found some suitably miniscule RAF roundels, number 2 (or is it number 1:???:) has had a coat of Dark Sea Grey.
I've just found a Modeldecal sheet with suitably small red/white/blue roundels on, so I may go retro with Dark Green/ Dark Sea Grey/Light Sea Grey.
There hasn't been any music yet, so;

Soz, but I missed the start of this. Looks like these are putting up a bit of a fight, but they're only small so bully them into submission
I've never heard of Nightwish, but an interesting combination of hard rock (pointy head stock guitars are us ) and keyboards topped off with a very good singer, she's got a hell of a voice.

Small but by no means perfectly formed. Not much progress since last time but I have got the underside of the USAF one sanded down and a coat of primer on. Unfortunately the kits aren't the only things I'm having trouble with as I'm having a problem with Photobucket at the moment.ShaunW wrote:Looks like these are putting up a bit of a fight, but they're only small so bully them into submission
In the meantime, here's some music.

Photbucket is working for me again so here's the photo from last time.
Not much progress since though. The Dark Sea Grey is still tacky and my Matt Black is thick and streaky.
I have got the missiles assembled though.

No way! Never... heard... of... Nightwish...??ShaunW wrote:I've never heard of Nightwish, but an interesting combination of hard rock (pointy head stock guitars are us ) and keyboards topped off with a very good singer, she's got a hell of a voice.
I love them myself, good choice Tim. Floor Jansen has a tremendous voice, but I have to say I like Tarja a little better. She had more of an opera voice, just something unique in this music. But Floor Jansen is superb! I'm glad they came to their senses and dropped Anette, her voice too weak. No power.
Seems like you're having fun with the builds too.

Re: Tim's little black numbers **Started**
Due to the fact that after six hours the Dark Sea Grey is still tacky I shall have to take the 'wuss' option with this pair and come back to them tomorrow.
Since the last update the USAF example has had the undercarriage fitted.
I've also given it a coat of gloss black paint and finished off the missiles. This is the state of play after just under 12 hours.
Altogether its been a frustrating day what with one thing and another. I should be able to get them finished tomorrow.

Re: Tim's little black numbers **End of part one**
If I'd only built the black one I probably would have been able to do it in the straight 24 hours. Its the grey one that's causing the problem. I hope it will be dry by morning.

Re: Tim's little black numbers **Part two**
Here's how we left them last night.
So far this morning the black one has been decalled and the grey one has had a coat of Light Aircraft Grey.
A close up of the black one.
These won't be the best models I've ever built but at least they'll be finished.
