Still watching the curling match, I'm sure we will win, but our skip is making it more exciting than it needs to be.
He had a good shot now though.
Thai take away. Large portion.
I ate half and am stuffed. Next time I'll try their Taiwan or Phillipine dinners. We also have a Phillipine restaurant here that has a fantastic tasty buffet every Sunday. And used to have a Chilean Restaurant at the sea here, but the family running it had to go back to Chile so it is no more. A shame for us, cause their food was delicious.

Nice meal there. It is lunch time on this side of the world so I will do that now.

First chance I've had to look in all day and what do I see? yummy food. My God that looks good. If we could pass food to each other down the interweb, instead of just being able to browse pictures, it would be so much more useful
Great work so far Sissel, those two are coming along nicely.

Thank you, Jeff and Shaun.
The darn Olympics had me taken for longer than I wanted. But I did get time for dessert before bench time Mmmmm... This is a feast indeed.
A short session at the bench. Feel it all going slowly. What takes time is all the painting and repainting. Despite washing, the paint wouldn't stick well on the Zero underside, three coats were needed here! On the P-40 the underside has gotten two coats. Then masking for upperside camo. Offcourse I noticed there will be peel on the underside when I put the paint on, but heck I'm getting used to that! I've gotten both camo colors on but both will need another layer. Wish they would dry faster!
The Zero also had a layer of green, and it might be enough with this one layer. I offcourse forgot to paint canopy frames freehand first, which would be easier. Now I have to wait until green is dry, then I can paint.
I've painted the cowling of the Zero, a mix of dark blue and black. I hope the darn thing fits over the engine, or I will have a fit!
The pilot of P-40 decided to eject just as I was about to glue canopy on. The glue dried before I managed to get the pilot in again, so I carefully removed the glue and tried again. Success.
Skipped pilot on the Zero as he wouldn't fit and I couldn't be bothered slicing him up.
I hope I can manage without a Future layer on both, but I doubt it. My experience is the paint will peel easier on these new tool kits when I handle them. Can't remember if I had that problem with previous new tools I've built.

They are almost ready for decals now. Props are painted and decalled.
The paint is still sticky and the dried areas does run on my fingers by the touch. So, I'm really excited/nervous on how the decals will react to matt paint that run off easy.
While we wait for paint to dry, I'll tune in with another classic. Part of the 'Highschool Rock of 50s' I'm listening to. A fantastic 10 cd collection, I'm hooked for sure.

The Tomahawk is done.
Having no idea how long Winsor & Newton takes to dry I thought it best to mattcote both before I go to bed. Glamour shots in the morning.
The Zero is almost done. It just needs the propellor on, spinner painted and bomb glued on. I hope the mattcote is dry by the morning. Bottle says leave for 24 hours. I was scared of the leading edge decals. But like the rest they were strong and easy to handle. I just dragged it off sheet, positioned it, added lots of microsol, then carefully used kleenex to fold it around the wing edge.
These are two great kits, otherwise it wouldn't be possible to build them so fast. I've not had that many hours at the bench, atleast half has been watching Olympics, doing other stuff and waiting for paint to dry. I'm not sure how fast these can go together, but not many hours, they build themselves. Even with the little filler I used it went quickly and smooth. (Allthough at the time I felt everything going slow).
It is such a relief to finally have a matt varnish that is just as easy to apply as Future/Klear. Same type of liquid. Just a dream.
Lets drink to that!
Right, so 1.30 am, should head to bed. Good night. And thanks to those watching.

Good work sissel, I like how the paintwork is smoothly brushed.

Bloody work meant that I have missed most of this I'm afraid. Lovely work on this pair, they don't looked blitzed at all. Did you know that Norway beat the USA at curling?

Thank you guys.
The Zero had rest of the bits on, and painted the spinner. So this is done as well.
The matt varnish is still a little sticky. Bottle label is right then, leave for 24 hours to fully dry.
The lamp has yellowed the look on these. I'll get the better glamour shots up later today or tonight, as I'm out the door very soon.

Yes, I heard something about that, vaguely.ShaunW wrote:Did you know that Norway beat the USA at curling?

Much credit Sissel. Under the weather and still producing great builds. Well done.
