Cheers Paul.
As I will be busy with Olympics from 6 am to 1 pm straight (and I need sleep inbetween now and 6 am, already 1 am!), I'm afraid I only have one option with this. The 'wuss' option, splitting 12 + 12 hours.
I'll continue with this tomorrow afternoon. Should start around 1-2 pm, only interrupted by curling and biathlon. That shouldn't cause problems as only decals, a few bits and touch up painting is left.

Darn Olympics! :frown: :ha:

That's gonna be awesome when it's done, Sissel.
Shame GB are going to beat Norway in the curling later.

I'm really glad I took the wuss option, otherwise I wouldn't be done. Even if there had been no Olympics, I'd gotten up at 6 am, being done by 1 pm I wouldn't have managed it. I'll need all day.
After decalling I need to put bits on and repaint areas! Then there's the matt varnish taking 24 hours to dry. Right!

I've come to realise that gloss coating (taking a night to dry here) is a no-no in a blitz. But I don't have a choice, the decals will silver and paint will peel by the touch. Thinking of cancelling my other blitz builds...

The snake decals are bad. The idiot I am I thought it was the usual Italeri quality. It's not. And moving them around is difficult, once on the model they set rock hard. I've put loads on water on and microset pricking, lifting forcing to move it to position. It's come out allright, but they curl up.
After I had wet the decals, I had to cut the snake up as it would be impossible to move decals when on model. Very long. So to anyone building this model, cut the snake up into 4-5 decals before dipping in water (it's made of two on one side and three on the other).
Putting the decals on takes forever, they need 4-5 minutes in water so this will take many hours, and I can't do the other side until the snake on this side has fully dried.

Here's me starting, one decal on.

Think there's something wrong with the cross here. :-D
It was on the sheet like this. I'll have to go through my spares and see if I have one, I pray I do.

Enough complaining, and back to bench.

Oooooooooh. Looks like you have your work cut out for you. But your skill with the hairy stick should come in handy patching it with paint.

Just a thought.

Thanks, Jeff.
I did not have many crosses to choose from, to cover the one decal. I found one, not exactly the same and slightly bigger. It doesn't have the black outline and the white is wider so it differs a little from the original. But it will have to do.

It went quicker than I thought and it's actually done now. I just need to let the varnish dry for a bit, so it's 'dry enough' to take pictures.

I will probably feel different about the finished model when I get distance from it. As well all know, straight after a 'rushed' finish you think it looks bad. Always overdoing it, right?

Mine was like that - so you're not alone.

Sissel, I have googled 'Snake Stuka' and found pictures of two different JU87s with this marking, T6+AN and T6+DP and the second aircraft did show signs of repair/repainting around the fuselage cross on that side so it would not matter if you did not change this but of course we will never know which colour was used to paint over the repair on the real Stuka.

Offcourse it is! :frown: Why couldn't that have been written on the box/instructions with HUGE letters? It just seemed like a bad decal.
Oh well, too late now. Damage already repaired.

Before the fuselage was damaged it would have looked just as you have finished your model so it is still quite accurate :)
