Tim's Arado Blitz **Finished**
For my next Blitz I'll be building this.
I was going to build it last year but couldn't find time to fit it in.
I'm thinking of going with the Hungarian scheme to go with my HobbyBoss 109 I Blitzed a couple of years ago.

Re: Tim's Arado Blitz **Date TBA**
Ah, this is a surprise as I was expecting a jet as in Ar-234. I see what you've done now, clever word play with the title as in an Arado being blitzed. Nice one, should blitz up well.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I'm hoping it will be fun to build too after the F-19s.Prisca wrote:This will be fun to watch.

As I'm in a Blitzing frame of mind at the moment I thought I may as well make a start on this one too.
I thought it might catch a few people out. I'm quite fond of a bit of word play but I could never match this.ShaunW wrote:I see what you've done now, clever word play with the title as in an Arado being blitzed.

Four candles.......love it. A great way to start the day.
Not a bad looking kit. Good luck.

The "four candles" sketch is an absolute classic, there's no doubt about that
Overlapping blitzes eh? brave move. Best of luck!

Re: Tim's Arado Blitz **Started**
Not much to show so far. I've got the cockpit interior painted and the wings assembled.
I nearly made a mistake with the wings as the undercarriage legs have to be fitted to the upper wing halves first as the rearmost location hole is inside the wing. I'd already attached one wing half before I noticed but managed to slip it in.

Like most Heller kits the interior has a nice bit of detail.
Hopefully I should have the fuselage closed up by the next update. With four hours gone already I'd better get cracking.

4 Candles, always make me laugh.
Will keep my eye on this one as I have not seen it built before. Seems to have an ideal low parts number but its the fit that counts.
I think this is a clever sketch too:

Re: Tim's Arado Blitz **Started**
Significant progress has been made over the past couple of hours and the Arado is up on it's feet.
There are some nasty looking wingroot gaps though, and the top of the cowling doesn't look too clever either, but that could be my fault for rushing.
Looks like time for some filler. If I can find some thin plastic strip I can use that instead.

Re: Tim's Arado Blitz **Started**
I find Vallejo putty to be great for wing root gaps. I squeeze a little out, add water and slide over with my finger or q-tip, it'll melt into the gap leaving a fine surface. In most cases I don't need to sand.

Thanks for the tip Sissel, I'll have to see if I can get some. I have applied some filler to the wing roots.
I'm hoping I can get some paint on tonight, if not I may have to go for the 'wuss' option again. I suppose I should have waited until the F-19s were finished before starting this one.

Well, you've come a far way. Just sand the putty, add canopy, spinner, sticky out bits, paint and decals = voila!
