I freely admit that I am a fan of Academy kits, they are accurate, detailed, the parts fit together without hitting them with a file and they sit on the shelf happily with anyones new tool kit you can mention.The story so far, the interior parts have been painted and pre-build assembled and are now ready for assembly proper which will come next.

I'm another Academy fan as well David, although the kits of theirs currently in my stash are all 1/48th scale. This looks very nice. I noticed one of these Tempest kits on a vendor's stall at the Huddersfield show last Sunday and was tempted, but I was shopping for a CBK airliner at a reasonable price and had taken limited funds to avoid buying too much for once in my life!

You seem to have full control here.

I also like Academy kits. They fit together well and have strong plastic. Detail is often nice as well.

Sissel, I find they build themselves and as far as detail is concerned there is little to choose between them and the new tool Airfix. If you compare them to Trumpeter I think they win hands down on cost and value (such a shame Academy don't make a 1/72 scale Sea Fury) The wings and fuselage have been fitted together, we will now have a short interlude as the glue dries after which the seams can be smoothed down and the two assemblies will then be joined up.

Nice one, those assemblies look well up to par. I'll use the short intermission to good effect and go and sort the car headlight out.

The wings are now in place, the joint was a little tight on this kit so I shaved a little of each wingroot fairing with the edge of the modelling knife- result, a perfect fit, the correct dihedral and still no gaps anywhere. There will be another slight pause until the glue dries.

This is coming along well. I have a few Academy kits, I'll have to try one or two of them.

The elevators have been separated from the tailplanes which have then been fitted. The elevators were next filled on the joining face to set the angle and have then been glued back onto the tailplanes in the 'at rest' position. When the glue is dry painting can begin.

Thanks despondmen, I forgot to fit the gunsight and windscreen-this has now been done and the model has been primed.

This one isn't a conversion Sissel so I think I will be done about midnight. I am spending much of my time waiting for paint to dry at the moment.
