Aw, now the pressure is on - I noted the "should have" vote of confidenceTimJ wrote:They look like fun little kits. You should have them all finished well inside the 24 hours.
OK, I'm back - SWMBO went out to dinner, not an inconsequential event this time of year because so many places are closed -- options down, crowds up. When we arrived at the Kill Devil Grill, one of my few favorites outside the Town of Nags Head, the parking lot was full and one (out-of-state) truck queued up. To make along story short, I got parked first, inside first and we go the only open table ...
I forgot to take a photo, but SWMBO had blackened rockfish over cheese grits with a shrimp something. I had a cup of roadhouse chili and a braised pork shank that just melted off the bone.
And KU beat WVU, so if Wichita State wins later, it will have been a good day for Kansas on the BB court.
And here we go with the next one, Rochelle.
So, 6 hours down, lots to go and the leisurely pace feels good considering ....

Re: The Planes ... The Planes ...
And here's #4.
Do not, repeat not, let any daughters or granddaughters see this and want one - it is not a build for small people and adults won't have fun either. The only saving grace, on this forum at least, is that it's Canadian.
Fitting the props, shafts, and spinners to the cowlings is rough - the propshaft is slightly oversize so the fit is tight. I had to clear the holes, trim a small bit off the front, then just glue the spinner onto the prop/shaft.
The rear fuselage halves don't fit tight and I used a little glue along the seam - not totally successfully either.
Fitting the gear covers to the main gear isn't easy, nor is the two part nose gear assembly.
Lastly the sticker fit isn't as good as the others and the long piece running along each side are hard to get in place. There is no clear picture of exactly how it should fit and I suspect the rudder piece isn't right. Lastly the sticker under the fuselage covers over the slot for the stand.
As I said .... not as much fun. And, no, Rochelle doesn't rate an entry in the "history" ....
So 8 hours down .... maybe one more tonight and save one for tomorrow.

And here we have Bravo, the Navy jet that helped Dusty across the Pacific ....
Should get all you jet guys interested ...
I see I missed the clock in the photo - it's 8:30pm ...
Obviously I'm taking pix by flash in a less-than-bright room .... sorry about that ...
I'm going to work until whatever, then call it a night and finish tomorrow by noon, so it'll be 24 hours period, not my usual split.

Re: The Planes ... The Planes ...
Well, here it is ....
This one would be tough for kids. The fuselage essentially requires you to put together a 6-part "box" all at once, thentrap that in another couple parts. It can be done, but then the joins aren't as good as with others and I ran a bead of hot glue around to lock it down.
After that it isn't too bad - lots of parts with all the missiles and tanks and such, but they go together andon the plane pretty well.
You'll see I did Bravo gear up. I did Skipper & Rochelle gear down because I intend to display the 5 props that way, with Bravo in the middle or something ... I do have stands for all the others ....
That's it for today .... Wichita State is ahead at the half by 7, but Northern Iowa is going to make it a long half, I suspect ....
Back sometime in the morning, late morning, to finish the last one ....

This is going well.
I suppose you'll be placing these on your mantle piece?

Great work. I have enjoyed following your build thread, I pick up these kits in my LMS and put them down again, I might now have to take a second look.

Great stuff although some of these seem to be a little tough for kids to build on their own, it would make for a good parent/child bonding session.

Very good John. I have the diecast all except Rochelle. There is always one you know.

Wichita State won handily, so Kansas basketball went 3-0 yesterday ... a good day.
Here's the last of the collection, the villain Ripslinger .... boo hiss ...
Thanks for the support !

Sounds as if these aren't necessarily suitably for kids - bit of a shame, that. An opportunity part-wasted.

Re: The Planes ... The Planes ...
I'll address that in my wrap-up, Paul, but I think an adult-child project would work.
And here's the last.
I have been remiss not showing some of the steps, so I'll illustrate a few nifty things here. I have talked about detail, and about engineering. Here is the assembled contra-rotating prop and the fuselage with internal structure. That girder-thing is what holds everything together, not all kits use it, but many do.
Looking at the first pic and this you can see the prop shaft slots into two places. It's still a bit sloppy but OK.
Fuselage together, there are two black parts - the larger one is exhausts and if you look carefully there are intake screens.
And assembled .... Pretty detailed, really ....
And stickered ... and done .... I'll note they avoided the problems of the long fuselage/tail sticker on Rochelle by doing Ripslinger's in two pieces. In retrospect if you do Rochelle, slice it in two parts before you peel it off and starting sticking.
Well with 24 hours .... I have some chores to do and will be back with a group photo and some wrap-up comments on these kits ....
