despondman's Mint-Chocolate Swirl Spitfire **Finished**

Post by despondman »

I am not really in a position to set a date for a blitz and know I can stick to it, it is a case of taking the opportunity when it comes.
So this is a last minute decision to do a blitz. After doing a HobbyBoss Mig-3 last week I had a set of decals left over and being keen on doing planes in non-standard markings thought it would be good to use them on a Spitfire. The idea took hold in the week and this morning I thought why not blitz an Airfix Spitfire MkIa using said decals. A quick search on the interweb came up with a Mig-3 colour scheme I fancied, and so here we go.

You can never have to many!
You can never blitz to many!
You can never whiff to many!

Best of luck, and as I'm having a couch day and watching Winter Olympics, I'll try to drop by regularly. :)

Yippee. That is a nice blitz kit. Good luck.

I made this kit last year, it really is a nice kit, goes together easily, perfect blitz material.

Anyway here is the progress so far. Didn't put any effort into the cockpit, just built it and painted it green.

Almost all that is left of the build is the undercarriage. I cannot take any credit though as this is such a nice kit. The only part that needed any work was the canopy, which needed a little taking off the back before it would slot into place.

Excellent, that looks great. I've built this kit and I also had the same issue with the fit of the canopy. Overall, it is a little beauty of a kit though.

Good, I've got this kit making noises from the stash, so I'll watch carefully ...

A bit of time since my last post. Partly due to the pizza delivery man paying a timely visit and partly me trying something fancy with the camo scheme that didn't work out.
Anyway this is the current state of play. Not sure I am happy with the camo, even though it is what I set out to do, but does look better in the 'flesh' than in the photo.
