I'd been thinking about Blitzing a car and this is probably my best option. Hopefully the weather will be dry so I can paint the body, if not I might try polishing the plastic.

This should be good. Any thoughts on color?

At the moment I'm thinking of satin black. I'd like to do something shiny but I don't think I'll have time.

Oh yes. Those old Fords look great in black.

And we're off!

Image

One thing I will be changing on this kit is the rear lights, which are provided as stickers.

Image

This means I'll have to fill in the slots that they fit into and replace them with some spare lights from a '48 Ford Coupe.

As far as the music is concerned, what else could I start a hot rod build with but this. 8-)

Not much progress but I have got the rear light slots filled and sanded and made a start on the interior.

Hopefully the next update will see some primer on the body and fenders.

I've only ever built one car model, but just a thought about the lights. Could you not just use some thick clear packaging (if you have any that is), scribe in the reflector pattern and use that, save having to ruin another model by pinching parts?

Great start Tim, and nice choice of music. I quite like ZZ Top and that song is one I've listened to lots. I also belive I posted that song in a blitz in August.

Carry on. :)

Hey Tim. Another idea on the lights. I have done this. Paint the light piece silver and than paint Tamiya clear red on top. That is if you have clear red. Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestions re the rear lights. At the moment you can still see the outline through the primer so I'm still filling and sanding at the moment. Body, fenders and chassis have all been primed and the wheels assembled (that didn't take long  ).

Time for something to eat now. Just a pasta bake from the fridge.

A couple of years earlier from mine, but another hot rod classic.

Great stuff, this is coming along very nicely Tim. Those ping meal bakes are very handy for times like this
