despondman's Fw190 **Finished**
My last blitz of Blitzbau XIV the Airfix starter kit Fw190 A-8.
Most likely built OOB but I am considering using some Captured Butcherbird decals for the scheme below:

A nice little cockpit, but I didn't put too much effort into it. Used the 2 instrument decals, even though hadn't intended to - for some strange reason if they're there you feel you have to use them.
Also managed to polish off a simple but tasty lunch.

Good start D-Man and this looks to be a nice little kit. Fish fingers, chips and beans, the lunch of champions and a man after my own heart. I've loved that combination since I was a kid

Great kit, great meal. You are on the way. That was the release I bought because I preferred it over the snake issue.
I'll check in when I can, sir.

Steady progress, mostly on the wings.

Suitably nourished with those FF chips & beans there is good progress. Seems to be falling together well enough D-Man, just the ticket for a blitz.

Yes a nice little kit, and good for blitzing, however getting the the 2 halves of the fuselage together whilst getting the cockpit, and other parts, properly in place was actually a little fiddly and took longer than expected.ShaunW wrote:Seems to be falling together well enough D-Man, just the ticket for a blitz.
Wish I hadn't bothered with the instrument decals as there is no way you can see them.

Despite the issues with the cockpit fit, it looks nice enough now it's together and I can make out some nice detail there, such as along the rear shelf in the cockpit, on the wings and on the fuselage. FW-190 cockpits are quite narrow though and it's a shame that you can't make out the instrument decals.

Looking good (the fish fingers that is )
Good progress it looks like a nice kit, I have found a lot of the new Airfix kits have fine tolerances and the cockpits can be hard to fit.
keep up the good work.

Very nice, looks just about ready for paint now D-Man. I presume you will be using acrylics for the speed of drying, applied by hairy stick or airbrush?

I like fish fingers in a sandwich with lots of butter and brown sauce...
The FW is coming on nicely - I'll be buying this one I think

Re: despondman's Fw190 **Started**
I've noticed a few people mention that on the forum and I had that problem with the new Spitfire Mk1, even though the dry fit seemed perfect. When I built the Bf109 I made sure that my pre-painted cockpit wasn't painted quite so liberally and it went together much better.splash wrote:I have found a lot of the new Airfix kits have fine tolerances and the cockpits can be hard to fit.

Build reviews that I have seen on the F-dub indicate that you may desire to glue the fuselage together and then slip the innards in from the bottom. I build the Spit and with a little careful "adzing" of the bulkhead everything just fell together.
Great progress Des-Man. Getting me pumped to do mine.

Yes it will be acrylics applied with the hairy stick. The build is now complete. I am going to take a few hours off now and take SWMBO out for tea - a fine steak n' ale pie at a local hostelry. My intention is to complete the paintwork tonight and do the decals tomorrow morning.ShaunW wrote:I presume you will be using acrylics for the speed of drying, applied by hairy stick or airbrush?
