Whilst waiting for the pre decal gloss to dry on the Hornet and the filler to dry on the Bristol I had another look at the Owl and was surprised the filler I had applied required very little work so I gave it a coat of white primer out of an old rattle can and it looks OK so it might now be back on my build list.

The primer is on the Bristol and I'm happy with how the nose has blended in, I will give it 24 hours then start masking the stripes.

I had a dhooooooooo moment tonight, not being in the mood to carry out lots of masking I thought let's use the invasion strip decals. After applying the first wrap around wing strip I thought that's not a very good fit then it dawned on me the decals are Airfix and the kits Frog so no surprise that it would not fit.

Back to plan "A" out with the tape and hope I can get straight lines.

And I bet the wing stripes were too small. The Airfix wing chord is seriously undersized.

Good luck with the masking. You could also always try some blotching :ha:

Cheers.

I must admit I'm happy with the nose, tonight I tried using parafilm to cover up the stripes and was please how easy it is to use, I might even use it the mask the upper surface.

It's getting tight for me to finish on time but the end is in sight. Once the masking was removed I was quite happy with the stripes, I had a couple of minor points to touch up but the lines look reasonable straight.

Sea Hornet update:

I had a rummage through my decal stash and shock horror no late roundels to be seen. A quick visit to my LMS and I picked up an Airfix Spitfire mk22 with what looks like the right size roundels, so luckily I heard some one once say "you can never have enough Spitfires" and as the kit comes with two sets of decals nothing will be waisted.
