Splash's Frogs *** DNF ***

Post by splash »

I can't make up my mind on which of these to build  so the only answer will be to try and build all three.

I built the Beau a few years ago - nice little kit.

Right - as if you've never seen these kits before in your life..... ;-)

Odd blue streaking on that Hornet - different coloured plastic in the mix when it was moulded?

Progress on the Hornet has been quick due to the simplicity of the kit the lack of flash and the quality of the fit.

It's interesting to look at the different approach frog used on these kits, the Hornet is simple with no working features apart from the spinning props where as the He219 is a complicated build due to Frog making all the flying surfaces as separate hinged items. This is not helped by the He219 having 8 separate flying surfaces

Honest Guv I never saw them in my life before. :ha:

The blue is part of the mould as you say must have been a change in the mix.

The Beaufighter must be about the same age as the Hornet as the construction and detail is about the same.

Looking good. Doing three seemed like a lot, but that's a great start.

Looking at the Hornet & Beaufighter they would make good blitz kits on the other hand the Owl would not.

Having the gimmick of moving flying surfaces always gives you a poor fit and it will require lots of filler so the Owl will probably take the longest to build.

The Owls body wings and tail have been assembled as separate sections, I have decided to not have moving surfaces so the hinge pins will be removed and the flying surfaces just stuck on once the other parts have set and been cleaned up.

It's interesting to see the difference in size between these three, the Hornet is very small compared to the other two, the biggest being the Owl.
