Re: Toby's Whirlwind
Hope you manage to recover it, it was looking really nice and would be good to see it finished.

Work started. Not as bad as first thought. It's amazing what a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich can do for one's morale

Re: Toby's Whirlwind
Hopefully have saved the day to an extent. Been up since 6am refixing starboard wing, tail elevator and u/c.
I didn't go for the rigging on the rear elevators as I couldn't bothered.
I'd had enough by then.
Anyway here it is.

Congratulations for sticking with and getting it done. None too shabby!
At least we all now know what the original kit was like and can rest easy in our beds

Well done. That's a great result, especially after it's accident.

They do!Chris wrote:Excellent work Toby, those guns sure look scarey!
In hindsight once having found out which way the nose fitted I'd have put the guns in it before attaching to the fuselage. Future Airfix Red Stripe Whirlwind builders heed this advice.

Nice work, that is a sleek looking little a/c.
I think between the Whirlwind and the Hornet the Hornet was a better proportioned and slightly better looking a/c, but for slim line high speed looks the Whirlwind wins.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Can't argue with that. The Grumman Tigercat is another in a similar mould.splash wrote:Nice work, that is a sleek looking little a/c.

Nice one. Glad you stayed on task with this one. Wonder what it could have been with Merlin engines.

Good work toby. I've been beaten for the first to finish.
