Flamin' quick progress.
I see you've not painted the cockpit before putting it in, do you usually do that?

Whoops, it looks like that. But It is definitely Revell 49. I wish I has used a slightly darker shade, but its OK ATM.Prisca wrote:Flamin' quick progress.

The undercarriage is finished, and I have gotten another tin of thinner. And finally: My can of Tamiya Fine primer finally turned up after 2 months of going AWAL. And just in time too!

I had to double check that I wasn't in the Blitbau forum BW as this is going together so quickly.....
Nice work so far and nice choice of kit.

A lot more progress:
I've heard that masking up the Airfix Bf-110 canopy is said to be a nightmare. And that a lot of modellers, have instead either bought paint masks or done it freehand. I don't really see the problem. Only took me half an hour to mask up:
After that, I attached the much smaller undercariage pieces (a note to other modellers: the undercarriage pieces are very soft, so take EXTREME care when removing from the sprue. Also, careful alignment was also needed to make it look 'right', then after sorting out the other attachables, I gave the whole model a treatment with Tamiya's Lovely surface primer.
(Why does my canopy look so messy in this shot?) Anyway, the panel lines look good and deep. To my eye.
Lets hope the canopy holds together. If it doesn't, I'll get out the knitting needles.

Just been masking the canopy of the Whirlwind and that took me about twenty minutes but in a way it's as fiddly as the 110 but in a different way. Yours is looking good so far. Are you going with the camou plan on the box or something else?
Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto
Re: Blohm's Bloomin' Bf-110. *Primed*
Good progress. With all the square panes in the canopy, I do not anticipate any problems masking that up.

This is excellent BW. In the smaller scales I generally hand paint canopy frames (brush marks show too much on larger scale canopies IMHO and I find larger scale frames easier to mask up), cleaning up any bloopers afterwards with a cocktail stick moistened in thinners. I ain't as quick with the masking tape as you are and I would run out of patience with all the little canopy frames in this kit!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks guys!
TobyC: I will be doing the first BoB scheme straight from the box.
Jssel: But there are some slightly raised 'bumps' just above the square windows on both sides. So they are a bit harder to mask up. But apart from that, it's pretty straight forward.
ShawnW: TBH, I haven't needed to get a cocktail stick for a long time now. My masking usually ends up straight and neat, unless I haven't layered it down right, and it bleeds.
