While the kids and swmbo were out at softball this morning got the colour on.

It's been about a year since I had the airbrush out so I'm glad it's not a complicated scheme. I used Vallejo model color German grey for the main colour, and didn't I have fun thinning it for spraying, and getting the right air pressure, eventually got there. Used some model color black to get some more patchiness, and Brett Green's brown and black mix around the engines, underside and wing roots.

Hopefully decals tonight..

Deccles on...

Well my first use of bought after market deccles. Owl deccles and they are very nice, very thin, I found them very grabby and had a couple split, I destroyed part of one leg of an underwing deccle.

Patched with a section of white deccle from the spares. Its the bottom right arm.
I was using klear, so I changed to just micro set and had that made them much easier to handle.
So clear coat, maybe some post shading, make some prop blurs, and we'll be almost there.

Very nice Jim, Vallejo paints can be a pain to spray that's true a bit like xtracrylics but once you can get everything right you do get a very nice finish to your paintwork.
This one is shaping up well.

Yes I managed to carve a new leg from sprue, easily adjustable for length through heat..

Well I need new clear plastic for the prop blurs, my second hand spiral band clear covers, are not cutting the mustard, also need to work out how to dedust things.. ah well.
An evening of cementing greebles and a few touch up, (I remembered to paint the tail wheel ) I call it done.. The first model I've finihsed in about a year...



A very enjoyable build, I like the kit, and will keep my eyes out for more at good prices. Oh I need to take more time and refine my finishing skills though, I do rush things too much, but build and learn.

Looks great. The propblurs look more effective to me from the second pic rather than from the front. All that careful canopy masking paid off well.

Here's one on a white background..

Doesn't show the reflections and crap on them..
