Curling, what is that? :ha:
Yes, I was up 6 am to watch.
It wasn't surprising, but we did beat GB first match. The Norwegians are amateurs where two of them have full time jobs and they don't live next to eachother so training time is very limited. All other teams are full time pros. They simply did not play well enough this time to advance. Darn exciting though. And if Ulsrud hadn't missed with his last rock we probably would have won, as taking 1 point would be very difficult for GB. The Scottish didn't play their best either but I hope they knock out Sweden.

Curling is forgotton now as we just won gold in biathlon, and gold and silver in nordic combined.

The Germans were lucky the Japanese fell! :-D
The Germans running into eachother in the last turn trying to get past the Norwegian failed, but good for them only one fell. It would have been gold for us anyway as they just couldn't get past the speed Graabek put in. He was in good shape today and first in the turn, which was very important, he just skied past the Germans! And then Moan got silver. Atleast Fabian Riessle got bronze, I had hoped for Kircheisen or Watabe.
In biathlon Emil showed class and won fairly against Foucarde, who was closer than he thought. A good day for us!

Back to model:
I've painted the propellor blades and upper part of tail wing. I really like this glossy black. Looks so nice. I just hope the decals will cooperate with me, for once.
Then I got a headache cause of another model and think I'll stay clear of the bench, atleast for some hours.

Looking good Sissel, plenty of time to tackle those decals, and the gloss finish should help against any silvering.

Thanks, Chip!
It just occured to me, I don't have to gloss varnish before decals.
I need time for the tail decals, they really worry me.

Very nice gloss black finish and if it stays that shiny you shouldn't have any issues with decal silvering.

Thought I'd throw in some bench time between watching Olympics.
Started applying the decals. No problems. They are strong and look good. But the large tail decals are too short, so I have to paint blue and yellow around them. The decals on the wing edges are too big, fiddly getting these on. If they match one end they are short other end, but too wide. Will have to touch up with paint here too.
I'd forgotton to paint the yellow spinners, they'll need 4-5 coats for the yellow to be solid.
Once I've done that and glued bombs on, it's ready for a photo shoot. Well after the final gloss coat.

I should mention I had several accidents during this short hour. First I managed to spill the mug of chococoffee on the bench and my pants, just missed the decals. Just pure luck!
After cleaning that up, the remote control from shelf above decided to sky dive and landed on bench with a bang! Knocking over both microsol and microset bottles, smashing part of a built up assembly of Belfast and emptying the bottles. Thankfully I have more bottles in the drawer.
No pieces seems to have broken, so it will be a simple matter of rebuilding.

Back to watching Olympics, it's more safe.

Thanks guys, I've now painted the areas around decals. I was quite happy with my blue mix and match, pure luck I mixed a perfect match to the tail decals.
I also put the tail wing in, no glue needed here. Just carefully widening the fuselages and let it snap in the holes. Exhausts have been painted.
The yellow spinners has had three layers now, it might be enough. So tomorrow is gluing them on then gloss varnish and I can call it done! :)

What a great kit!

I love most fishies. Except the pizza kind. :ha:

I have seen that kit at the local Michael's Craft Store and always turned my nose up at it. And it has been out there forever.

Just might have to reconsider so I have a mate for my P51D's.

You are doing great.
