Progress is progressing: decals are on now.

Still to come:
- one stationary prop, one with blur (and an attempt to streak/blur the bi-coloured spinner)
- find some way of making black smoke (dye cotton-wool black?)
- Hot pin and x-acto knife battle damage

I'm incidentally deciding instead of the Heller Caudron to see if I can pick up a Hawk 75 at Huddersfield at the weekend, which will fit with the type used in the novel.

Ten minutes with a tealight and a dressmaking pin gives me this:

Then add some aluminium paint round the holes and streak in some Tamiya Smoke and Citadel Hulk Oil for fuel leaks:

Great looking man made weathering. I can't recall the last time I saw a model with bullet holes. Nice touch.

Added some cotton wool painted in oranges and reds, and then black "Roving Wool", usually used for felting apparently, for the smoke. Hairspray to keep it in place.

And a quick test-fit to the stand.

Now all I need is a prop blur (forgot to buy a sheet at Huddersfield, I'll just have to print my own, dammit) and the antenna and wire.

That's a great technique for smoke.

Excellent, that roving wool is very effective for the smoke.

Now that is effective, the wool looks very much like smoke. :)

It actually looks better in person as well, the wool comes out really shiny with the camera flash.
