Post by Chuck Finley »

My first build for February will be the Douglas B-18 Bolo flown 38th Recon Squadron at Hamilton Field, California in 1938.

Good choice. I have one of these in my stash, the Digby variant, so I'll be watching with interest to see how it build up.

It depends on when released. SH kits from the last several years are excellent.
Really nothing pithy to say.

The Bolo/Digby are recent releases and looking at and test fitting the parts for my Digby it does seem to be on the rather good side of things. So I suspect the Bolo will be the same

You are correct. I built the B-18A back in June with wargame colors and it turned out well. I would highly recommend getting some canopy masks from Eduard for the Digby. It makes life so much easier. :)

They are not an easy build like some recent Airfix. On the other hand, they do make unusual subjects and the more recent kits are leaps and bounds over their earlier kits as far as detail and ease of building. Besides, where else can you find a decent Vindicator in 1/72 scale? :)

Ah, you're back - I was beginning to think you were still trapped on a freeway around Atlanta .... Your Gov & Mayor have sucked up a bunch of (I'm sure) unwanted air time ....

And Gwinnett County Schools were the only Atlanta system to hold classes Friday. Joys of teaching Special Ed in the public schools.

Clear parts are masked (Thank God for Eduard precut canopy masks :P) and interior pre-painting done. On to the actual build.

What an interesting looking aircraft. Looks like a very nice model too. A lot less short-run looking than any of the SH/MPM kits I own.

They have truly come up in world and beyond limited run. I believe the Italeri and Revell Hudson's are MPM/Special Hobby molds.

They are, but not to the standard of current MPM/Special Hobby.

Main build is complete and painted. Now, on to adding the small parts, touch up and decals.
