VV's _very_ yellow winged Monospar **Finished**
I originally bought this kit for a Biggles build, later realised it was entirely wrong for the story and replaced it with a DH Dragonfly, and have since been hunting for inspiration for a scheme for it. Then I came across this picture:
http://www.airwaysmuseum.com/Adelaide%2 ... stcard.htm;
Sold!!!
So, I'll be building the Adelaide Airways Gal ST-25 Monospar VH-UUV using the Azur 1/72 kit
Box and sprue shot:
I just finished the Special Hobby Lockheed Orion mixed media kit, which is very similar with regard to resin parts and vac canopy, so it gives me more confidence with this. Can't wait to get into it!

Look forward to seeing this one as the Monospar has a high cute factor.

Right, it's gone midnight so it's officially the 1st of Feb in the important parts of the world
I thought I'd get the drop on you podeans , so since taking that shot I've stuck a wing together. Seemed like the right thing to do....
From the way it went together, I'm anticipating some cooperative behaviour from the kit (excepting that vacform canopy )
I'll post more progress pics once I've had a sleep and not crashed into a tree on my long drive tomorrow.

Ok, so not exactly flying along but wings are together, Pobjoys on and getting some paint on the interior. There was a massive resin plug to sand off the cabin floor. Resin is fiddly.
I'm not absolutely convinced about the interior silver that the instructions call for but for the life of me I cannot find colour interior pics of a Monospar anywhere so silver it will have to be.

This month is just punishing me
Modelling time has dropped to zilch. Hoping to get back to it after this weekend (meeting a work deadline!)
Just signing in to say this build hasn't dropped off the edge of the earth......yet.

Well, you are a lot closer to the edge of the Earth than most of us....

Looking Good!
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Vacform canopy cutting and fitting....... *twitch* .....
Sorry for the rubbish image. I need to hurl our camera off a cliff and buy one that works.

Fake your own death and flee the country so it can't find you?....
I saw somewhere that filling it with blu tack was the way to go. It certainly helped. For this one I scribed the lines with a scalpel to use as a guide, then did the actual cutting with extremely fine sewing scissors. There are probably better methods out there though.

Not bad, not bad. Vacuum canopies have often been a problem for me in the past.VickersVandal wrote:Well, I got a little bit more done....

Canopy masking - more or less painful than rigging biplanes? Hard to say....
Anyway, it's ready to hit with the primer now

Nice masking job, canopies are my least favourite job.

Agreed on both counts. Rigging is a doddle by comparisonMolly-new wrote:Nice masking job, canopies are my least favourite job.
