Toby's Silver Seagull. "Finished"
Almost finished my other GB so about to start on this one.
It's the Hasegawa Curtiss Seagull SOC-3
There's some confusion on what colour the tail should be.
According to Hasegawa it should be red.
However Wings Palette have it as being black
http://img.wp.scn.ru/camms/ar/1686/pics/3_11.png
as do Yellow Wings decals
I shall go with the black option.
Btw can anyone recommend what yellow I use for the wings?

B. I believe you meant "Blackburn Blackburn", clearly one of the top 3 of all time.
Good one, Toby !

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
The Blackburn Blackburn (So good they named it twice...) just looks like a slightly goofy, lovable cartoon of an aircraft. The Roc, with that near vertical front to the canopy is an offence to aestheticsjRatz wrote: B. I believe you meant "Blackburn Blackburn", clearly one of the top 3 of all time.

I see your Blackburn Blackburn and raise you one Avro Bison, truly an example of beauty in British aircraft. :PjRatz wrote:A. They were - the SOC doesn't come close..AndrewR wrote:Two words: "Blackburn Roc"PaulBradley wrote:And some people say British naval aircraft between the wars were ugly...!

On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Compare it with the Farman F.220 - F.223 which is best described as Gothic Grotesque!TobyC wrote:Never heard of the Blackburn Blackburn so I looked it up. What were they thinking !!!!

Then again, should MPM/Special Hobby/Azur release either in plastic, I will be first in line to pick one up.jRatz wrote:Yes, birds of a feather ....Chuck Finley wrote:

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
Are the two halves from the same kit Toby?
Or were they made by different toolmakers perhaps?
(Take a bow Airfix Gosling/Widgeon ).

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
Cockpit finished and fuselage joined.
Next up will be to work out where to drill holes for the rigging as I can't find a proper rigging diagram. I will have to do it by eye and looking at various pictures of the ugly beastie.
Also need to find a yellow to go on the top wing.

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
An interesting subject, Toby.
Looks like you may be in for a trials, judging by your fuselage pics earlier in the thread . I'm sure it'll look great when it's done though!
Btw, I built a Boeing P12e a while back with yellow wings and I used Humbrol 154 Insignia yellow. The P12 is an Army plane though so not sure if the yellow would be the same
