A bit more done. Engine given some detailing.
Cockpit finished and canopy stuck on. I used part of an IP from a Mosquito. Thought the beast needed some input from a beauty.

nice job dressing that engine up a bit. I'm curious to see how you handle the combined struts. I have the kit in my closet, but seeing the strut pieces has discouraged me from starting it. Its all on you! No pressure

Looking Good. Which ship will be adorning the Seagull's side? I built mine as 3-O-4 on the USS Mississippi.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
I looked for rigging diagrams, but have none, which I find a bit odd and I may look again.

The West Virginia (4-0-1) according to the current decals.Chuck Finley wrote:Looking Good. Which ship will be adorning the Seagull's side? I built mine as 3-O-4 on the USS Mississippi.

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
Gloss varnish applied and then some decalling will go on especially the ones that are impossible to fix once the top wings go on. A lesson learnt from previous builds!!
Also the struts seem to be quite a nice fit. Famous last words no doubt.
Quick update: The decals have had it. Disintegrated on immersion into water. I should have brushed them with some decal save but they looked ok. New set ordered from Hannants.

Getting there. Hopefully will put the wings on next and then rig it.

It is looking nice. I am now tempted to build my SB2U-2 from the USS Wasp airwing. (Black tail as well)

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
Initial dry fit has gone well. There is some tension with the inner spars onto the nose which will help with fitting.

They do. Nothing like the ones on the Academy Camel I made a while ago that looked similar but most definitely weren't !!

Looking good Toby, that strut set up seems much better than the individual ones that I have been wrestling with.

Re: Toby's Silver Seagull
All going very well with fitting the top wing. Nice and neat fit so far.
Until!!!!!
Port nose bracing strut snapped at the base and the locating tag at the bottom is now part of the carpet.
Hopefully I can effect repairs that won't be too obvious. It's a shame as it was going together really nicely and overall it's a good little kit.
I think a trip to the local is now needed

It looks like it will be a nice addition to the shelf in any case.TobyC wrote:All going very well with fitting the top wing. Nice and neat fit so far.
