Re: Sign-up and Chat
This is tempting me, one of the models I am building in the Hurricane GB will use a Sea Hurricane kit so if I can get a replacement in the LMS this wednesday I would like to join in if I may? if I fail to get another Hurricane kit I do have a Frogspawn Firefly F.I that is screaming to be built.

I have no objection to her John, technically its not a Naval aircraft but to me the builds are about fun, and its close enough!Chuck Finley wrote:jRatz wrote:Which does not make it Naval Aviation.
Well, it was flown by US Navy pilots, based at NAS Anacosta from 1943-45, and painted in standard naval scheme of Non-Specular Sea Blue, Intermediate Sea Blue, and White. So are we talking about only operational naval aircraft? That could eliminate aircraft such as the XFL-1 Airabonita, Vought XF5U-1 Flying Pancake, XF8U-3 Crusader III, or F6U Pirate. I have a feeling that this particular Fw-190 spent more time in USN colors than the Airabonita and the Flying Pancake never flew at all.
That Fw-190G3 sure appears to be wearing USN colors.
Of course John has the last say being a site moderator, but its ok by me.

And I am going to rule against it. Joint & combined service testing of many aircraft, allied & enemy, was done at several NAS - that does not make them naval aviation. If the testing had been done at an AAF it might well have been in USAAF colors, just like e/a tested in England bore RAF colors.Chris wrote:

I now have an aircraft ear marked for this GB. It's the Airfix 1/72 A-7E Corsair II. Decals are knackered so Hannants will be supplying me with these. https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/SS72826;
Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto

I am ready to start with a Revell Sea Hurricane, if there is time after building various Hurricanes on the Hurricane GB I have the choice of a Frog Firefly F. mk. I or a Novo Supermarine Attacker waiting in the wings.

I am also assuming you will also be ruling against my other build for having non-standard colors.jRatz wrote:And I am going to rule against it. On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Hmmm thinking of it. As I'm gonna build a couple kits along the Hurricane in that GB, I may be crazy enough to splash in the Sea Venom here instead of my workbench thread. I will build the 'exotic' version.

I'd like to join, with a Hasegawa P-3 Orion. Scheme to be decided, perhaps a VXN-8 Project Magnet bird.
This will be my first GB here. Hope a month is long enough without life getting in the way!

No, not at all - these are USN 100th celebration colors and a number of aircraft were repainted.

I am jump on board with this.
I feel an Airfix Helldiver coming on. The MPC issue but I promise not to use the "flame" decals.
