Re: Splash's Sea Venom
The main components are now in place, only the wing joints will require a small smear of filler.
Twin boom a/c tend to be tail sitters, but The good thing about this sea Venom kit is its big radome that will have lots of space for some liquid gravity or air gun pellets.

Very nice. I have one of these in the stash, so this is helpful.

One of the few builds of past year and can honestly say it was one of the best and most enjoyable of the last few years, shall fire up a photo on previous builds when I get a Moment.

It looks great, Splash. I'm so excited to start mine, hopefully soon.
Thanks for the reminder of nose weight.

Re: Splash's Sea Venom
This really is a sweet little kit I thought the booms might be a problem area as they almost just butted together with only a small flange that helps alignment. I was surprised when I found the booms fitted well and only needed a small bit of work to get them to blend in smoothly.
A quick coat of Halford's Primer out of a rattle can has showed up very few faults that need fixing before I lay down some colour.

Tonight I broke out the hairy stick for a change and gave a couple of coats of dark grey and yellow.

Looking good Splash, very nice finish. I always liked the Frog DH twin booms, haven't built the Venom in years and really must get hold of one this year for the Frog GB.

Re: Splash's Sea Venom
The ejection seats provided by frog aren't bad for there age but they lack detail, I bought a resin mk1 Jet Provos and without doing any research got a set of resin seats to go in it, then it dawned on me the early Jet Provos did not have bang seats
My cunning plan is to see if these seats will fit into the Venom

A cunning plan indeed. So cunning that you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel .
And suitably cunning for a great build.

Re: Splash's Sea Venom
It's now time for the part I have not been looking forward too, adding the decals to the wing tip tanks
It turns out I might not have needed to be worried as the decals to the top of the tanks have gone on with no fuss or drama. I'm going to let them set before adding the bottom halves.
I have noticed whilst adding the decals that my demarcation line on the tail is too low and I need to add a strip of sky between the radome and windscreen so this will need touching up before I finish the decals.
