This is a single-type GB of the Supermarine Spitfire - any kit, any scale, any variant, any markings.

This GB started from threads here and here.

The GB runs from April 1st to 30th; your GBL is Lancfan who will fill in any other info.

Here we are at last, Spitfire time! I have five builds planned- three aircraft from the BBMF and two wartime machines, plans aside if I can get them all built in time will just be a case of time telling the tale.

Yay!

I'm planning on two builds - both of which from two prominent Spitfire-related films: Battle of Britain and Dark Blue World.

If I've got time, I might do a third - we shall see!

I will be starting with an Airfx Mk IX as flown by Wing Commander J E "Johnny" Johnson, followed by a Heller Mk IX (for which I have a cunning plan relating to my Museum Group Build if time allows). :-D

I will build my mk.1, airfix Aircraft of the Aces pack special!

But no airbrush means that Ill have to wait until later April in order to paint it up. So sorry if my progress is a litte slow.

Having just got 4 Hobbyboss Vbs tropics off ebay for under a tenner I think I'd better build some of them

I was thinking about doing the Airfix 1/72 Mk.Ia -- both the old- and new-tool in comparison -- but the more probable choice is the new-tool Mk.I/IIa, something in a nice black & white underside with a 2-blade prop.
I have several decal sheets to work from.

I probably will not make much of a start until the 2nd week ....

I am in with the 1/48 Airfix Spit Mk XII. My personal favorite Spitty. My other two GB's will go bust I am afraid but I have a desire with this one.

My pair will be a Hasegawa 1/72 Mk.I and a KP Mk.IX/XVI. I have not yet decided on the configuration of the Mk.I or the paint scheme of either model, but the KP will be from some RCAF unit. It depends in part on whether some elderly decals prove to be usable.

I'm in with a 1/48th Airfix / Otaki / Arii Spitfire Mk VIII to be completed as a USAAF machine in MTO markings. I have various bits (inc. fuselage and gun-barrels) left over from my stalled 1/48th T.IX build so I may try a bit of cross-kitting.

I would love to follow up with a 1/72nd Hasegawa HF.VII as this is a major gap in my collection but, realistically, I'm unlikely to get round to it. I'd also like to do an Airfix 1/72nd Spitfire Mk IX as a PR.XI with the Freightdog conversion. Oh, and I've got a 'Joypack' threesome of AZ Models Mk IXs that really need to be built.

regards,

Martin

You're going to need canopies, new props and build the undercarriage doors then...

I am swamped with real life (tm) at the moment and may not be able to build in this GB. I do have a Mk22 and a Mk II (LR) lined up if the planets come into alignment unexpectedly!

Cheers

How can you use a Vb wing from a Vc kit? :ha: :ha: :ha:

This sounds interesting I like to see cross kitting, I will watch with interest.

Have just acquired a pair of Italeri Spitfire Vb kits, I might have a crack at one of these as well, if I have time...!
