Bugger!

When I assembled the prop, I must have made the pin too close to the spinner back plate, the result being that when I tried to fit the prop into its recess in the fuselage, it broke off! Oh well, I'm not fussed about them spinning that much!

In case you're interested, this is the little guy in the background - an old Mk.XVI getting a repaint.

God I love how easy these Otaki Spitfires go together! I might use one for the D-Day group build....

Cheers, Martin!

All paintwork has been done with the hairy stick, incidentally.

Well, I'm quite annoyed as the decals which I had ordered specially for this build have yet to arrive - especially since I ordered them towards the end of last month! I'll give them until the end of the week to turn up, otherwise it's on to plan B....

I have some decals of the correct type (including the small Czech roundels for beneath the windscreen), but it'll mean having to hand-paint the spares box squadron letters, since they're white and not sky!

Daz,

I hope they arrive soon. But if they don't, I'm betting you'll cope! :)

Well, my decals still haven't arrived, so I decided to bite the bullet and use the spares I have in reserve. What can I say, I'm an impatient git! :ha:

The roundels/flashes went on more or less OK (although a couple of little "accidents" resulted!), while the codes and serials went on fine. I haven't bothered to paint the codes white - it might not be accurate, but they look fine as they are, albeit slightly smaller.

I love the Otaki kit - it's nice and simple, and builds into a pleasing model with little effort. In fact, I have another in the stash (making it my 4th!) with designs on doing another which will have some extreme modifications!
