VV's Biggles Spit. **NQF**

Post by VickersVandal »

Well, I did warn you that my GB entry would be a Biggles build ;-)

This will be Our Intrepid Aviator's mount from Spitfire Parade - the BoB short story collection. I've decided to run with the TL-E theme depicted in the graphic novel:

So, the victim is the sweet little new tool 72 MkI/IIa

Can't wait to get into it! Probably not til Thursday though.

Sorry to be so absent in everyone's build threads
Work (and life) has been absolutely killing me lately. Hence, since Tuesday this is all I have managed.

Will watch with interest VV, do you still want to run a Biggles GB? as I have a few models in mind for that one when it comes around including a slightly different Spitfire.

The only Biggles Spitfire book I've read was Spitfire Parade - many, many moons ago!!

Definitely still up for it, I've just been slack in doing the organising. I'll get there!
I am we'll keen to see what you'll bring to it.

Paul, to my shame I don't actually own a copy of this title. It was a rehash of the WW1 stories quickly cobbled together by Johns and set in the BoB as a public morale exercise. because of that I've never been that keen on it.
You can check out the original illustrations here though:

As I understand it 'Spitfire Parade' is quite a rare title and can command a high price today.

It was in our local library back in the 1970s, along with the Air Police ones. Not the WW1 stories though.

My local library (well, the old one, anyway) also had it, although this was more like a giant comic book version.

Like this one, in fact:

An hour's more work and I can close up the fuselage now......once I add the control stick that I just realised I've left off!

Does anyone else think the two fuselage halves fit a bit poorly? I drilled out the attachment holes even further, but more filling is needed.

I had no issue there, though it didn't quite fit together around the cockpit assembly. I also had a slight fit issue with the lower wing root, though nothing too major.

I did. It drove me up the wall because I had tried to sand down the instrument panel and seat in order to get a better fit, but to no avail whatsoever!
