Lancfan's BBMF Panther ***FINISHED***
I popped into the LMS this week and picked up the third PR19 kit for this final BBMF fighter.
Before properly starting on all three of these I will wash the sprues and then correct the camera port position as I have done for the other two.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
The mark 19 kit has far more cockpit detail than the other kits I am using and even though it could be improved it will not be visible so I am not going to bother and the cockpit will be largely OOB. This shot shows the fuselage sides and cockpits of all three kits after they have been painted, the cockpit interior parts are almost OOB apart from plasticene seat back cushions, stretched sprue seat adjustment levers and Tamiya Tape harnesses.

The fuselages were glued together last night and the joints have just been cleaned up. The fuselage for this model is at the rear of the picture.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
The PR19 wings are no more detailed than the other kits so the wheel wells of this model have been improved in the same way as the other models. This picture shows all three sets of PR.19 wings after the wheel wells have been detailed in exactly the same way as my mark 9e model HERE

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
The next model I will finish is the third of the PR19 kits that I began earlier in the GB. This will be finished as PS915 when it wore SEAC fighter colours in the late 1990s-early 2000s.
Here is the assembled wing and fuselage, the next job will be to reduce the depth of the panel lines with acrylic paint.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
The panels lines have been filled with acrylic paint and were still wet when the picture was taken. When this has dried the surface will be cleaned up and the wing will be attached to the fuselage.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
The surplus paint has been cleaned off the fuselage and wing and the fuselage can now be joined up.
The wing has been glued to the fuselage and has been set aside to dry.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
The airframe is almost ready for paint, just the radiators, air intake, tailplanes and rudder to fit and the model can be primed.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
Thanks Nigel.
I primed the model last night but have not had time to build today, all I did manage to do today was to paint the wheelbays.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
Spending most of my building time on the BBMF maintenance build but work has not stopped here, I am building up the white bands with thin coats of acrylic to get the depth of colour without creating bulges on the wings. There is nothing to show ATM but the next picture will be posted when I am happy with this stage.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
I have had a slight foul up in that I have run out of acrylic white and could not build up the required depth of colour. I have now sanded off the acrylic primer around the stripes and resorted to white enamel.
The underside Medium Sea Grey is now on, the masking for the white stripes is a little scruffy but I can sort that out when the colour scheme is complete.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
Because I do not have the panther decal for this model I must paint it in freehand, this has meant that the paint job is taking longer than usual.
This shot shows the white outline of the panther emblem being finalised before filling in the shape with black.

Re: Lancfan's BBMF Panther
And that is as neat as I dare try to get it freehand. Normal painting can now resume.
