Toby's mysterious Mig " Finished"

Post by TobyC »

Mysterious as the Academy kit is not exactly forthcoming as to which version it is( I think it's a Fishbed C) and mysterious as to what markings I'm going to use. I'll probably paint it in some generic aluminium and decide later which air force it might have flown in.

It's a Fishbed C Toby. Small shock cone/radome is a giveaway.

The kit looks interesting. :) I'm curious to see how well it builds up as the Revell ones fetch silly money.

From what I've read about the kit it's not a good example. Never mind It looks like a 21 to me.

A few years ago I built a Matchbox MiG-21 and I don't think that is universally regarded as being a brilliant kit of the aircraft either Toby, but it looks enough like a '21 to satisfy me. Although this Academy kit is a simple looking affair that doesn't necessarily mean it will be bad to build up. Do I spy that the ejection seat has been integrally moulded into the cockpit?

The head rest is but the actual seat is separate and be seen in the top right of the top sprue.

To say the cockpit detail is a bit lacking is an understand!!
I'll probably add something....anything to make it more interesting

It is but doesn't look so in the flesh rather than the flash.

The real thing is not exactly dull.

"Soviet Barf Turquoise" indeed.

Do I remember reading that it was supposed to be relaxing?

Wings on. Filler applied where needed.
What colour should the wheel wells be? On the box art it looks like a dull green.

That was quick work Toby 8-) .

Wheel wells can be interior green, light grey or bare aluminium. It depends on what your references show. Sorry, that's not much help is it?

Never ever attempt anything on your model after two bottles of sake. It's a good thing I've got a spare kit.
