I'm on holiday next week so won't be building much more before then.Dazzled wrote:It looks good to me Toby.
And on the bright side, given the speed you're getting these together, you have plenty of time to build another.
This could turn into a "Squadron of Mig-21s GB"

I hope so. Just been trying to get a match on radome green and I've found an RAL colour that looks close.ShaunW wrote:It looks like you've managed a decent paint finish in that Toby. I don't know how much of the cockpit interior will be visible through the glass but hopefully you'll be satisfied with it and your enthusiasm will return.
Next up is a DR1 in some glorious colour scheme
That'll cheer me up.

Looking sharp Toby, are those Cuban markings?
Have a nice time on holiday. Where are you staying? I might know of a local model shop worth visiting.

Yes it's Cuban pre the missile crisis hence the painted over Russian markings on the wing and tail. After the crisis they found a bit of time to remove them.Old_Tonto wrote:Looking sharp Toby, are those Cuban markings?

I'm staying just outside Kielder so I doubt there's many shops let alone ones of the modelling variety up there.

That is coming together very nicely Toby and those Cuban markings are very interesting. You should enjoy the Kielder area, but as OT says, it is the back of beyond! Great for walking and mountain biking, pants if you run out of paint for your latest modelling project Have a good time!

Back from a very enjoyable trip up north and didn't buy anything on ebay until Thursday. I feel very proud of myself
Just need to finish off attaching the ordnance and u/c with some weathering and all will be done.

Re: Toby's mysterious Mig
All done. Quite pleased with the outcome but the limitations of the kit don't really lend it to a top build unlike some of the others being done in this GB.
My attempts at a backdrop failed miserably so I've only included one shot with it.
The markings are from the Cuban airforce based at Santa Clara prior to the missile crisis and at this time the Russian markings have been blanked off with the Cuban ones painted on top. Later all traces of Russian markings were removed.
I'm pleased to say that I did add enough weight in the nose

Nicely done - I do like the Cuban rudder markings - very jazzy.

Cuban markings are pretty cool and you've done a very nice job with what you had Toby. It's clearly not a great kit to start with but you have produced a very attractive model from it

Great result Toby. Possibly the best result I have seen with that kit.
