I'm glad the Mig juices are flowing too. I've got a couple of East German Migs planned for the Iron Curtain GB in November. Maybe we can share info?
Sounds like a plan Dazzled. I have plenty of images from around the web. Which Migs did you have in mind?

I've had an idea of doing an Iron Curtain "End to End" theme. First I thought a country in the North (East Germany or Poland) and one in the South (probably Albania). Then I flipped the idea and thought that as the driver for the GB is the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain why not build one aeroplane from each end time-wise. With Germany, being pretty much the most effected country, East Germany seemed a natural choice.

So, I'm going for an early East German Mig-15 and a Mig-29A from the time of the fall. I have another Airfix Mig-15 in the stash, which I'll jazz up with an Eduard cockpit set like I used on the last one I built, plus a Fujimi Mig-29A with East German markings (I have more Mig-29s in the stash than I'm prepared to admit to ;-) )

That's the plan anyway

Thanks guys. Sounds like an interesting idea Dazzled. I was planning on doing a Mig-29 for the cold war GB but after this build I fancy having a crack at the KP Mig-21MF or Zvezda Bis.

My little mig is getting its decals on.

There are a few more to go including bort number & emergency release indicators but not stencils. Life is too short.

The U\C doors & stores still need to be attached but I will leave those until everything else is done.
I already knocked off the drop tank twice.

Hopefully tonight I can get the NMF engine area heavily weathered & remaining decals on. Bank holiday tomorrow so more time for plastic bodging then. 8-)

I am calling this one done:

Image

I will take some glamour shots the next sunny day we get.

Not the most effective Mig-21 variety this, no guns & just two very unreliable missiles.
Still they flew in squadron strength & were supposed to intercept waves of bombers incoming from the west. :???:

A lovely kit this Fujimi even though it has its detractors. It looks like a Mig-21 to me & fits like a dream, you can't ask much more than that.
Retail price is a steep £20 when you can find them. i got this one for a tenner on the bay as it had no box. 8-)

The decals are from TOM. I used Tamiya paints throughout & a badger Anthem airbrush.

A big thanks to whoever had the original ides for the GB (sorry I forgot whom!). I have had great fun building, planning & researching the Mig-21.
Lots more to be built now. So watch my workbench space, I am already on with a two seater.

Good to see it finished OT. Could do with a sunnier photo though, she's hiding in the shade a bit!
