Space seed ****COMPLETE****
My first build for this GB is the Polar Lights USS Enterprise & SS Botany Bay from the 1st season TOS episode 'Space Seed'.
The kit includes options for several versions of the Enterprise as well as a stand and has excellent decals included.

Re: Space seed
Just watched this episode on TV - I'd forgotten how corny it is - Ricardo Montalban is really hamming it up! But a great set up for the movie.

Looked at one of these in the LMS, not a lot to it IIRC.

Re: Space seed
I haven't uploaded he parts pictures yet from my camera, its a pretty good kit, has a choice of four versions, 1st pilot, 2nd pilot, regular season and mirror universe version. Has different nacelles and decals and you use an alternate stand that does not include the Botany bay.

Re: Space seed
I've got the same kit minus Khan's ship. I really like this scale as you can get a lot of kits in a rather small area. I'll be watchin this one

Re: Space seed
I hope to get started tomorrow, felt a little weak this last few days.
I have looked over the kits, it should be a fast build.

Re: Space seed
The kit is well molded and clean looking
Three sets of engines are included for different versions
The botany bay is just a few pieces, and the kit has excellent decals with plenty of options
The instructions have paint call outs for all versions

Re: Space seed
Is it just me, or is the Botany Bay the more interesting item in this thread.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

Re: Space seed
Definitely not just you...I think that many modelling get a little over-Enterprised so it is good to see one in company with another significant ship that isn't one of the usual suspects...general rocket wrote:Is it just me, or is the Botany Bay the more interesting item in this thread.
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...

Re: Space seed
The saucer section is built first
The engine support struts are two peices, and needs putty as there is quite a seem
The saucer section is joined to teh secondary hull and the support struts are added
Putty is needed where the support struts join the secondary hull
The engines have clear caps, these are painted red
The engines are built next
While they are drying the botnay Bay is built
the warp engines are soon finished and ready to be attached.
The port angine went on easily, the starborad had to be readusted several times before it was on correctly
The botany bay is sprayed white, I have the episode on DVD, the shipo is white and heavily weathered, not rust colored like the kit says.

I wish I could see them, but my internet has been crippled down to nothing.

Re: Space seed
At the risk of crashing a GB I'm not involved in, I'm following this with interest and looking forward to seeing the finished product
Best wishes
