VVVanship ** Finished**
My GB entry is the incredibly stylish military Vanship from the Anime series Last Exile, in 1/72 from Hasegawa's Creator Works line.
The parts are very nice and the kit is much simpler than I expected, which is a bonus
I've decided to be different and go with the white (Dio) colour scheme rather than the red scheme of Tatiana Wisla.

Although it's hard to compare the setting to reality, you could say that the vanships and their crews have take the place of early biplanes and the rather romantised pioneer-adventurers of that age. The rest of the setting is an odd blend of steampunk, interbellum adventure movies, and futuristic SF that still manages to remain workably consistent in a rather entertaining way. The original series is certainly worth watching, the sequel in still entertaining but not nearly as good (well, in my opinion).

Re: VVVanship.
Thanks Rob. That about sums it up. I'm into the series purely for the aesthetic.
So, now that I have finally got my two Spitfire GBs out of the way, I will be kicking on with this one at the next available modelling opportunity.

Right, so finally got a start on it. Floor is meant to be wood brown, so I'll do a very light wood effect on it.
Also putting down first coats of interior black-grey.
You could make this model without painting and it would turn out ok. The spruces are colour matched, Matchbox style and given everything is either red or gunmetal, you could get away with it from a distance.

Re: VVVanship.
I'm fascinated.
Despite knowing nothing of the programme, I will be looking out for at least one of these models.

Re: VVVanship.
Yeah, whether or not you've seen the show, the vanship really stands out.
I've managed to get some more bench time. A bit of work on the internals. I picked out the instruments with a mix of silver and burnt iron, using a toothpick. Came out ok.

Good luck with painting the red plastic white, not a task to be taken on lightly.VickersVandal wrote: I've decided to be different and go with the white (Dio) colour scheme rather than the red scheme of Tatiana Wisla.

Re: VVVanship.
Great job on the cockpit(?), the wooden floor is quite realistic.
