Hi everyone- It is that time at last, the TSR-2 GB is due to start on Thursday, post your build when you are ready to start as usual and enjoy the GB. jRatz has donated a copy of the SAM book "TSR-2- Lost Tomorrow's of an Eagle" for the best completed model. This will be decided by a poll open to the rest of the forum (but not us) and the poll will open in the closing stages of the GB.

Thats an interesting addition. But I'm a bit concerned it might cause competition among users.

I think it would be all part of the fun but it would not be a part of the GB itself merely a bonus result based on the opinion of our labours by our peers.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
I'm signed up with an Airfix dirty white XR219.
The TSR2 is my all time favourite a/c, I can recall when it was cancelled and being to young to understand why.
I have had the kit in my stash since the early 90's and being too scared to build it, so I see this GB as a real challenge as the kit has its issues and white is a very hard colour to get right.

I consider it more as an incentive to get the build finished.BlohmWolf wrote:But I'm a bit concerned it might cause competition among users.
I've got my kit, various resin bits and a what-if decal sheet ready so I'll be starting my thread later today.

I fully agree with you Tim, I see it as an incentive to finish and would like to thank John for his kind offer of the excellent book to one very lucky forum member.TimJ wrote:I consider it more as an incentive to get the build finished.BlohmWolf wrote:But I'm a bit concerned it might cause competition among users.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
I'm nervously awaiting the starting gun for this; all manner of firsts for me: first deadline build, first TSR2 build, first time that any of my work will appear in public (Note to self: don't forget to photograph it from time to time!) and first time of doing an out and out 'what if....'
I also need to get up into the stash and find the kit, which would probably be a helpful start I guess

Re: Sign-up and Chat
OK guys, couple questions.
Would 617 Squadron have ever flown these?
Does anyone have any Capt Scarlet decals that would fit the 72nd kit?
A few other possibilities I am looking at:

I especially like the look of the Spectrum TSR.2...if you can find a set, I think that the ones from the Interceptor (the news ones with the metallic gold ink) would look suitably to scale although I'd be looking to place them forward of the intake as per the national insignia in the other profiles....

Phil, the Angel interceptor kit does come with a pair of spare roundels but they are smaller than the side view you posted, if three of us do still have these or someone has done a conversion and has the whole sheet spare and can send them on you have got your set of roundels, pop an appeal in "wants and Needs" and see if anyone can respond.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
Sorry, David, didn't mean to imply that I'd be doing a 1/72 one for this GB - I only have the Arba resin one and the tail on the has after twenty years, started to melt and I haven't seen any in my LHS recently...I've opted to give this big bird a spin...

Sorry Simon, I am the one to apologise as I got your post mixed up with Philp's post.
1/33 scale! now that is cool, will watch with interest.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
No worries, David... Although you have now down the seed of a Spectrum TSR.2 firmly in my head and I and thinking whether I have any gold foil for some large scale insignia stashed anywhere..this quite long but, apart from the main gear, appears relatively simple...if I had some 60s-era pilots, I would tempted to cut to the chase and build it gear up from the start...

Crikey!! That's enormous
Looking forward to watching it evolve. Dare I ask if there is any photo edge greebling involved this time?
Best wishes
