Fujimi FW 190D 1 48 ***COMPLETE***
Fujimi FW 190D 1 48
The subject for this build is a inline engined FW 190D in late war colors. This was an excellent aircraft anbd one of the many that came too late to change the German fortunes in the air war.
The kit is cleanly molded with fine detail but not many parts.
The kit has some full color paintings and excellent decals but doesn't really say what the decals are for, except for the three versions shown in the paintings.

Re: Fujimi FW 190D 1 48
The kit is pretty good on the kit, the cockpit detail is sparse and the pilot figure is horrible so I will just leave him out
The wing joints will require a bit of putty
The nose and tail planes are added and I am ready for painting

Going good Chris.

Re: Fujimi FW 190D 1 48
German light blue is sprayed on
Next Gray green is sprayed on, including some very light splotches
Black green is sprayed on next, and the plane is set aside to dry overnight

Good progress. I built that one years ago and love the decal sheet.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Nowhere in the instructions does it show the starborad air filter! This is added, the prop is painted black and the area behind the pilot seat is built up with sprue and putty
The nose spiral is painted freehand
The decals are applied

Re: Fujimi FW 190D 1 48
The canopy is painted and attached with white glue, the wings guns are added and painted gunmetal as are the engine exhausts, and the plane gets a flat finish
The landing gear is painted and attached
Just a few more details and the plane will be complete

You've done a very good job on what appears to be a rather poor model.

Re: Fujimi FW 190D 1 48
Working with a new wash suggested by Paul, A great builder on my site, AK for a pin wash of upper and lower surfaces, this is an enamel and great stuff, super easy to use
The wheels are weathered with AK earth color, and the drop tabnk is added
The antenna wire is made from streched sprue
The wire is painted gunmetal, exhuast and gun smoke trails added and the trim tabs are painted red
Lastly the running lights are painted green on the right, red on the left
And the job is done

Kit wasn't bad for a 1970s mold.TobyC wrote:You've done a very good job on what appears to be a rather poor model.
