Daz's last-minute Dora - **FINISHED**
Daz's last-minute Dora - **FINISHED**
Right, I'm getting into this at the last minute - still got five days, right??
My build will be the old Airfix 1/72nd scale Fw190D-9:
I was debating whether to do one of the kit options. I did fancy doing the scheme of the sole surviving Fw190D-13 (since the two types are fundamentally similar), but I dunno about that now!

Re: Daz's last-minute Dora...
So, in the space of a couple of hours today, I've painted the innards, tyres, and spinner, and put the main airframe together. There's not much to it, but it's not a bad wee kit at all!

Re: Daz's last-minute Dora...
Builds nicely. Do the red scheme with the white stripes. It looks great and the decals work well.

This version of the kit doesn't have that scheme, sadly!

Hobbyboss do one in that scheme if you want to do it at a later date.DazDaMan wrote:This version of the kit doesn't have that scheme, sadly!

It's tempting, I'll admit! For now I'm just going to stick with the kit options, but I'll bear the Hobbyboss option in mind.

Kit is looking good. I've just realized this the "new tool" (1976) one and not the original 1950-60s molding. Shape looks pretty accurate.

Some painting...
I didn't fancy the camouflage schemes on the box, so I made my own! Colours used were Revell Aqua-colour greenish-grey and fern green for the uppers and mottling, with light grey for the undersides (about the only colour that looked right on the box!).
It might not be accurate, but I've seen far worse, and I rather like it!

Yes it does look a bit small but the rest of it looks rather snazzy. Well done.
How did you do the splodges for want of a better word on the side?
