I hope it all goes well for you, looking on Google Earth I can see what you mean by living on a sand bar. I recall back in the early 90's our ship docked at Wilmington and I flew in a Seaking down to Fort Lauderdale and viewed the devastation caused by a Hurricane that had passed through.

My fingers are crossed for you.

I hope it passes you without too much damage (preferably none at all!)
Best wishes

I hope you come out of the Hurricane unscathed John. Back to the model The naval effort expended for D-Day is often overlooked and I'm glad you chose a ship as a subject to represent that in the build count, watching with interest.

Hurricane Arthur, while more than initially expected, was less than it could have been and we mostly dodged the proverbial bullet. The eye did pass across us at 4am, I was up watching. But it hit and was gone - initial soundside flooding was severe but receded quickly without major damage.

I finally got back to my workbench today, for an hour. Roberts got another coat of camo paint on the sides, and then I started on the decks. I got about 1/3 done the 1st coat and hope to spend tomorrow finishing that. I'll probably need a 2nd coat on Tuesday, then touch-ups of the vertical before I move on.

I'm now 4-5 days behind and will have to make some decisions. Pix when I get the above paint on.

Long time, detailed above as holiday and hurricane ….

But I've got a good coat of paint on much of the hull …..

Image

Tomorrow I'll get a 2nd coat on the main deck and do necessary touch-up where I got sloppy …

Then I'm into adding detail parts so I better get cracking, I'm now running behind ….

Painting "done" although it was a near run thing as I managed to knock over 2 paint pots in the process, for a total of 3 on this build. I don't know what the issue is, but at least the flowing paint only covered my workboard (making even more grids & markings invisible) and not instructions, kit, etc.

Onward .... but I have crash project, actually 2, that must be done today so nothing will happen until tomorrow ...

More interruptions and then a day laid up …. Woke up with what seemed to be a sprained ankle, but I hadn't done anything to it. Went for a check/x-ray which showed no bone issues - Doc thought it might be gout, but blood tests showed that wasn't it. So I'm on crutches and we'll see what the next series of blood tests show … This getting old is getting old ….

Image

Anyway I did get about half the deck furniture & detailing put on - I have that to finish, then do the masts and the boats, then it's into paint touch-up ….. Not sure about rigging and railings, I can't spend long at the bench - got to keep my leg elevated …

Lovely looking model. It was quite a brute. Hope your ailment gets better soon. I had similar and also thought it was gout. Blood tests revealed it to be rheumatoid arthritis. I hope it isn't this as it's no fun at times.

The ship is looking so sharp.

I had the same problem that you have, one day I got out of bed and thought ouch, it felt like a bad sprain but like you I had not had any injuries and to make it worse it was the day we moved house.

Get well soon.

TobyC, I could have gone all day without hearing RA because about 4-5 years ago, I had an autoimmune attack on heart, liver, kidneys, and some other stuff that laid me up in hospital for 10 days - then it went away completely with no final diagnosis - just the warning that something might happen again. If my body senses something it doesn't understand I wish it would give me the opportunity to Google it first and maybe provide some targeted information rather than just going nutzoid over me.

Anyway, SWMBO's cure is to make me sit with my ankle elevated all day, so no bench time ....

Could you make up a building tray and work on small assemblies when at rest?

SWMBO has decreed: NO MODELING LIQUID/GEL OR SHARP OBJECTS NEAR THE FURNITURE IN THE LIVING ROOM.

Otherwise, good idea ...

I don't know what I would do without my modelling tray! :???:

Great looking Monitor John but SWMBO is right (it was bound to happen one day ), your health comes first.

Alternatively you could put your foot down (metaphorically, Ouch!) & tell her who is boss.
Good luck with that. ;-)
