The silicone dries "clear" so the color of the base is important; if I were doing a landing craft, I might have blue offshore changing to brown then sand. Water at the surface always loos a bit clear so it works. You can dry brush for effect. I do not get very fancy.

Those links look like a binary printout gone beserk!!. I wouldn't do them, ask for what you wanted!!

The problem is that PE chains rarely look good, so IF I could do these, they look quite good.

I have had two accidents with paint tins; fortunately not with my last tin of a color and not (too far) all over the place. That and some drying time issues have put me a bit behind where I wanted to be and forced me to modify the build/paint plan a bit.





So, here we are, with much of the structure and detail on and I have parts of two colors on - I am going to try to spend tomorrow catching up on painting and work on some details.

Well, the MS1 (dark grey) doesn't coat for squat, nor does it dry quickly, so multi-coats per day aren't going to happen ….



That said, I got in some work on details - the guns, less the 20mm, and the starfish, etc, on the main mast.



I used brass barrels for the main guns. I had brass barrels for the 4in HAA but the kit parts look fine. I got WEM quad pom-poms and they look better than the kit, so will be used. Roberts also had an 8-bbl pom-pom but I couldn't get a WEM replacement so I made one out of two quad mounts. The astute among you will recognize the flaw in that - the gentlemen won't tell

My build will be suspended until early July - not a problem other than I will not be having any bench time and little, if any, online time. I think I am far enough along that finishing will not be a problem.

May be a delay, we have a Cat 1 hurricane (no, not the aircraft) coming through Thursday/Friday .... Not really a big deal unless it runs right up the sound and causes major soundside flooding .... Anyway, I'll be out buzzing around helping neighbors with prep and then checking aftermath ....

Frankly, the storm is going to be significantly worse than expected. It did not stay a Cat 1 but became a 2. It did not turn east when/where forecasted, and is now running up onto the mainland before turning east and coming into us from behind. We have gone from being on the northern fringe to near center in the cone which is not just bad for us but also for many areas to the south and west. Originally the east (worst) side of the eye was staying offshore, now it is running up then over, so that's what will come in from behind. You have to understand the geography, life on a sandbar, to understand the issues.

I have gone from minimal prep to putting the shutters down, stocking water, checking all the neighbors homes and tidying up loose furniture and items, etc. The good news is that we'll be hit and it'll be gone - this won't be running along/over us for hours & hours as usual. Unless it does something stupid ....
