Thanks, but I just found out it wasn't nice enough yet. I'd managed to miss some parts of the panels, and had to re-mask and repaint them  . Really odd how those colours behave; from some angles contrast is very clear and sharp, and yet under different light and from different angles, you have to look really close to determine where NMF ends and olive drab begins.

Now, on to stripes, or rather, large white areas destined to be striped later..

Don't know why but I seem to have missed this build
It's coming along very nicely even if it has been a bit unwilling some of the time.

The white parts of the invasion stripes are on, and although some of the white managed to end up where it didn't belong, this is not nearly as bad as I feared this would be. I'm not too fond of mr Johnson right now though, on account of the bumpy, lumpy twin tail booms being just plain EVIL in this context (I'll get over that shortly..)

@Toby: No intentionally wonky lines here, I'm afraid. I feel the wobbles would be seriously off scale if I put them on intentionally, so I'm counting on my less that perfect skills to introduce an appropriate amount of errors. Besides, I got the impression that crew chief Wold was something of a perfectionist who wouldn't have stood for sloppy painting.

I changed tack slightly on this, by using a technique that I knew would not yield completely perfect results for the black stripes. I yielded slightly less imperfections than I'd hoped for, but I think it captures the "best we could do, but might have been better" look well enough.

This also concludes the high risk parts of the project, so I'm now confident I'll be able to finish in time.

Very fine and neat job, makes me want to build one. The stripes look just right from here.

Thanks again for the kind words folks. The decals are on (although one of the ship-specific ones gave me a heartattack by jumping right at the carpet monster without it's backing paper; fortunately the table leg grabbed it and was persuaded to hand it back), and final assembly is proceeding, with the occasional breaks to let MicroSol work it's magic.

I feel guilty about painting the brass gunbarrels I splurged on; they look so good unpainted that I was sorely tempted for a bit to 'forget' some paintwork..

That came out really nice. Everything looks just right and the stripes are terrific on the '38.
