The chains are complete and the drum has been dry fitted in place, it will be painted as a separate part before being glued down. The next step is to finish the turret.

Thanks Nigel, the basic colour scheme is down and the drum and turret are dry fitted.
Image

Gloss varnish has been applied for the decals and they have been in turn been applied.
Image

Matt varnish has been painted over the decals to finish the base colour scheme, the tracks and final details will be fitted next to complete the model.

The finished model, a Sherman Crab mkI of the Westminster Dragoons modelled as it may have appeared on Gold beach when it had driven off the LCT,lowered it's boom and was about to power up the flail drum to clear a path for the beach head to follow.

Brilliant build. I learned a lot about the 1/1 article while following this.

Most excellent stuff.
I shall unashamedly be copying most of this when I get to building mine.
Your drive sprockets and idlers don't look like kit parts, what are they from?
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Sorry Fred, I forgot to mention those, the idlers are standard kit parts but the drive sprockets came from the Italeri 1/72 Sherman and are so close to the Airfix parts in diameter that it was a simple matter to just sand a little off the tips of the teeth to correct them.

It's a nice little model, Bravo.
Sometimes the talent consists exactly in that: try five dozen times when others stop at three dozen...! (F.Labelle)
I think that modeling is a subtle mix of zen philosophy and absolute crazyness - but in my case I would not dare to specify the respective percentage of each......

Very nice! The idle flails look most authentic
Best wishes
