Sprues all checked and ready to roll:

The Renault FT and Char B1 won't be involved, they were from an earlier stage of the war....

This is going to need a lot of dry fit testing as I go as the instructions are ambiguous in places at best. Made a start though:

Whats the background on this kit?

Is it a new kit or a re-box / Re-issue?

I remember the good old LCT with Sherman and the Buffalo with the Jeep but not the LCVP apart from the soft plastic ready built version I think they did in the 70/80's

I don't know the history of the Airfix LCVP Splash. I suspect it might not be an original Airfix tooling as the plastic fit doesn't feel very 'Airfixy' if you know what I mean?

Some progress on the Higgins boat. Not one of Airfixs best. Made a far less enjoyable build by the dreadful instructions. Also the Humbrol Acrylic 127 which should cover most of it is not a nice paint to work with either. I'll be glad when this build is over!

Bluesteel, this is an Airfix boxing of a 1/72 scale Heller kit.

More progress made tonight, but it's fighting me all the way, many tiny fiddly pieces, poor fit and dire instructions. It's giving me a taste of the terrors of Omaha Beach...

Do not grumble.
Instead of choosing the infantry, you could enlist in the Air Force! :) :) :) :)

Nice, reallu nice.

Regards.
Sometimes the talent consists exactly in that: try five dozen times when others stop at three dozen...! (F.Labelle)
I think that modeling is a subtle mix of zen philosophy and absolute crazyness - but in my case I would not dare to specify the respective percentage of each......

More work on the Higgins yesterday.

Soon be finished I hope.

On a happier not I notice that the Airfix Higgins boat due for re-release this year isn't the Heller re-boxing but a New Tool, which is good news as it'll probably be a far better build than this one.

Decals on and a rather poor attempt at weathering with some rust added for extra effect. But I'll call that a finish. Not an enjoyable build. But I will buy the Airfix retool when released as I hope it'll be alot better.

Some of the iconic photos of the landing were taken from the back of an LCVP with the troops poised waiting to leap off, the beach exploding just in front of them ....
