Daz's Airfix Typhoon! **FINSHED**

Post by DazDaMan »

My fourth and final(?) build for this GB will be the Airfix 1/72 Hawker Typhoon Ib:

This build will be OOB, but the squadron codes and serial will be those of the aircraft flown by Wing Commander Charles Green, MN666/CG. I think these are the same codes which will be on the big Airfix Tiffy as well!

Sorry I've been a bit slow with the updates on this one! I've tried to remember to take a few photos along the way, but inevitably some have been forgotten about.

Anyway, here's what I have....

Painted innards and some assembly:

Beginning to apply some stripes:

Stripes almost done, just need tidying up:

The model is now on its gear with the prop attached. Not much left to do construction-wise!

I'm not sure why one needs the 1/24 scale kit - yours seems to have plenty of detail !

It's not a bad wee kit at all, this. Certainly has the right look and feel of a Typhoon - and it's something different when it's parked in amongst the Spitfires! :ha:

Looking good Daren, haven't built the one in my stash yet- seeing how well it goes together I really must get around to it.

Finished!

I stuffed some of the striping, but I'll redo it later. I left off the rocket rails and bomb racks because I wanted to show the Typhoon as "clean". It looks rather elegant without them, but still potent at the same time.

Nicely done but it does look a bit naked :)

Tidy!
Always a punchy looking airplane!
Best wishes
