AE Build4: Matchbox BF 109E-7 1/72***COMPLETE***
Matchbox BF 109E7 1/72
I will be making this guy in the desert colors but I don't think the decals from the old kit are usable. If not I will use some out of my spares box.
The kit is typical early 70s Matchbox and was still factory sealed when I got it.

The decals look ok from here, I've used Mbox decals of this vintage with no probs. Try one of the Romanian ones first.

I built mine as a pseudo-Battle of Britain aircraft many years ago - nice kit.

I would echo Shangos statement and give the Matchbox decals a go. I've found they're about the most resilient of any manufacturer and I've had success with decals of theirs that must have been pushing 30 years old.
Nice little kit and one of my favourites when I was a youngster, I preferred it over Airfix one at the time.

Our pilot is painted
He is glued to his seat and into the fuselage, at this point my arthritis kicked in and I had to call it a day

The wings are added, a little filler is needed at the wing joint
The prop is built next
Primary construction done, tailplanes left off as its easier to paint the camo pattern this way
Three of the four nearly ready for paint

Re: AE Build4: Matchbox BF 109E-7 1/72
As I feared, the decals fell apart, I was able to save only the JG 27 emblems and one #9, the rest of the decals were from spares. The swazstikas are a little large, maybe the pilot was a fantaic Nazi! The tailplanes are painted and attached.
The canopy and guns are painted and attached and the decals are sealed
Landing gear (which is already painted) and weathering and this guy is done.

Looks good, that. I quite like the large swastika!
