Thanks Splash, Stuart, the model has now been varnished, as that dried I took a real life break and partly stripped my tumble dryer down as the heating element has gone west. I will now have a brew and then proceed to apply the decals to the Wessex.

Varnished, decalled and finally varnished again, this is how it looked a few hours ago. The undercarriage goes on next so that it will stand upright for final assembly.

The main undercarriage of this kit is modelled fully extended so this kit will sit nose high, as I intend to build a number of models based on the Italeri Wessex kit I have made a more permanent jig than the Lego ones I usually make up. Here the model is in position ready for the undercarriage to be split into upper and lower parts and the lower trailing arms of the main gear to be glued down with the axles resting on the balsa wood beam under the fuselage below the sonar well.

The undercarriage has been rebuilt in the jig and the joints reinforced with sprue paste to weld the parts together. The side door and wheels have been fitted and the model has been touched in where needed. I also lost one of the float drums to the carpet monster and have made a Miliput mould to make a new pair out of Das Clay later in the build, the rotor parts are now being painted before the rotor head is assembled.

I have been absent due to other things and life taking over a little so here is the catch up record of what has been done up to finally completing the model this morning. The last picture showed the basic airframe, since then the tail rotor blades have been turned round and the assembly has been fitted, the various aerial masts/blades, the exhaust pipes, the winch and side door have been fitted and the rotor assembly has been built up. The aerial wires along each side of the fuselage have been pulled from stretched sprue and fitted and the model is now complete.

Brilliant work David, that looks supurb. I bet it sits very nicely with your Seakings from last year.

A really nice bit of work.
