I always liked the Sea Dragon - an amazing collection of different shapes all flying in the same direction!

Re: MarkyM607's Mil-24('s)
Me too!, and a beastie too. I did some checking on the markings and the unit featured doesn't appear to have used this particular version of the 53. I think the Sea Stallions used the D but not this one!. Oh well, if they don't know, don't tell em!!.

That Sea Dragon will be a real mean looking big beastie, lets hope no one has read your thread and wont spot the markings.
The Hinds aren't that small either, good luck with your build we will all be following your thread.

Re: MarkyM607's Mil-24('s)
The old Airfix kit builds quite well, I don't remember any issues when I built mine. the weapon pylons are a bit thick and the D cockpit looks undersized to my eyes. Still looks like a Hind anyway.
Re: MarkyM607's Mil-24('s)
I have bowed to international pressure (well one or two people!!), I have cracked on with both Mil-24's AND the MH-53!!. So far really enjoying all three and easy enough to build (touch wood).
Airfix Mil-24 Hind-A,
Italeri Mil-24 Hind-F,
KiTech MH-53E Sea Dragon,
The 53 is lagging behind somewhat but I will say that I wouldn't be put off by the fact it's KiTech. It seems well moulded and nicely detailed. Whether it's someone else's kit I don't know but their Tomcat seems to be the Italeri one (with TARPS pod). So worth a go, ok for price and available as few seem to rate them.

Re: MarkyM607's Mil-24('s)
Just an update on the builds. All three are progressing well, although I am getting to the fiddly detail parts stage on the Mil's. The 53 IS big once the fuselage is assembled!.

Re: MarkyM607's Mil-24('s)
Current state of play...
The above is the Airfix Mil-24-A, the second photo brings back memories of when my brother (not a modeller before or since), built this kit, aged about 12. He tried to attach all five blades at once with a little too much glue. Needless to say it didn't turn out well. The rotor hub melted taking the inner 1cm of each rotor blade with it. Put him off for good I think!!.
The above being the Italeri Mil-24 F. Both have had filler applied to seams and wing joins as well as around the air intakes above the cockpit area. Soon ready for painting and small parts I leave of until the end!!. The A is to be in Algerian AF markings as I liked the colur scheme, something a bit different. And the F is probably Poland although I'm not sure they had them so it might go back to CIS markings.
The 53 has also had filler to similar areas, haven't done the rotors yet, all SEVEN blades of it!!. With the two Mil's these three will have seventeen main rotor and about eleven tail blades between them (have to check the 53's tail blade numbers).
Phew, all done for now. Besides, whoever suggested this GB (can't remember right now- Lancfan or Sir T!?), is responsible for me enjoying it and wanting to get my Mil-26 Halo restarted!!
