Toby's Great War effort pt4. 1/72 Esci Nieuport 17C.FINISHED
Let's hope this goes better than my last biplane.
On the face of it I think it will as the struts seem to be more straightforward in the kit and plane itself.
I'll be doing this in German markings a different version to Augusts' excellent rendition earlier this month.
It's an ex-English aircraft that was captured in May 1917 and repainted in Fliegerabteilung, where it was flown by German pilot Unteroffizier Paul Baumer.
I forgot to add the kit cost me £1.24 so if it all goes pear shaped I won't be that upset.

I'm feeling very positive
The instructions say it was painted sky blue or sky grey but looking at this
I've decided to go for RLM 76
Seems pretty close

But not close enough.
I added some Misterkit albatross blue to Vallejo MA RLM76 and I think I've got as close as I can.

I'll put some rigging onto the fuselage before going ahead with putting the top wing on

I look forward to seeing your rigging sequence, I had trouble deciding mine when I built this kit a few weeks ago.
Have you done anything with the cockpit on this one?

Using EZ line for the rigging and I'm taking my time over it.K5083 wrote:I look forward to seeing your rigging sequence, I had trouble deciding mine when I built this kit a few weeks ago.

The cockpit is basically bare apart from red leather for the seat and doped linen for the interior. A few splodges on the IP to represent some form on instrumentation.

Almost there. A few problems with the rigging but I hopefully have rescued the slack lines that occurred after I trimmed the residue
The Blue Rider decals are somewhat thick and I'm having to use liberal amounts of Microsol to beat them into submission.
Next is to weather or not to weather. I do weather my models as I like the used affect but on biplanes it doesn't always work for some reason.
