Jeff's USAS SE5A

A World War One GB - any subject, any scale, 1914-1918 - this is not a 1914-specific GB.
Runs 6 weeks, July 28th to September 8th, to allow plenty of time for biplanes, rigging, and holidays.
Your GBL is Chris, assisted by jRatz.

Been a busy little model builder painting the project. I am using some old old old Humbrol colors. RFC Green and Doped Linen.

Now to do some careful masking to get the overlap of the green over the linen.

Spent some time decaling areas of the wings and as figured, the old Monogram glossy things are giving me fits. At one point the decal fractured and left a spot uncovered. I will use another unused decal of the same color to "patch" it. So it goes.

I am pretty excited about this project so far and quite sure the finished kit will be worth it.

Doing a nice job on a nice kit- are you going to add the cooling vent to the Vickers seen on some USAS Se5as?

Thanks again to Bobblelink for the reminder about the cooling vent. Here it is added using a section of plastic rod sawed at an angle.

As you can see, some decaling has been done. These old 80's Monogram decals are not builder friendly. However progress is being made.

I like that Jeff, it looks really nice.

I shall see if I can sort out a cooling vent on mine, and some kind of gunsight.

Looing forward to seeing it done

Cheers

The dance continues. Upper wind attached. A little more paining to do on the nose and vertical stabilizer. But inch by inch it is getting there.

I have broken the "logical" build plan of this kit and I may pay for that later but as of now we press on. Some of the decals should go on after rigging is done due to clean up but the quality of the decals and the effort to get them on really made that an impractical solution.

I can definately see doing more biplanes to get the technique down pat.
