Thanks August, Tim, thankfully there are plenty of online interior pictures and drawings of these tanks.

with the interior complete, the hull assembled and the exterior cleaned up ready for detailing the M1917 6 Ton Tank will be left alone for a while as I bring the Renault FT-17 up to the same state

The blanking plate for the FT-17 engine bay has been made up from plastic card and is here dry fitted for the picture.

Work began on the engine bay of my FT-17 tank by making the radiator from 60 grit sandpaper and a header tank from thin plastic card, the engine is now being built up from plastic card and strip scraps but work must now stop for the weekend as it is time to clean up my bench and set things out for my next blitz build starting tomorrow morning.

Thanks Nigel, with my third blitz build out of the way (and having caught up on my sleep) I have just finished the engine for my FT-17 Tank, painting this thing should be interesting.

I have nearly finished the paintwork on the engine but have also realised my big mistake! I assumed that both tanks would have the same engine- they did not and the tank I had earmarked as an M1917 with an open engine bay would have had a French engine so now the tank with the detailed cabin will be the M1917 6 Ton Tank and the model with the exposed engine will be the FT-17.

with the hulls assembled and ready for detailing the tracks can now be cleaned up, here are both hulls with the drivetrain/tracks dry fitted and a marker coat has been applied to the tracks ready to be cleaned up.

Both set of tracks are now cleaned up.

Cheers Nigel. The French tank is here dry fitted to check everything for fit, a new tail has been made from plastic card and strip and the toolbox is a block of balsa wood, the French tank is now ready to be painted and decalled prior to fitting the engine bay covers after which the first tank of the Renault Pair will be finished.

The tan base colour has been applied, once the two disruptive colours are on and detail painting is complete the model can be assembled.

The French tank has been painted, assembled and weathered, the model is not wearing any markings as the preserved machines seem to be restored to 1930s colours and the period pictures do not show anything that I can copy- I prefer to base my models on real machines whenever possible but a Battle of France era colour scheme would not suit WW1. All that now remains is to make and fit the engine covers and the Renault FT17 half of the build is finished.
